I used to play FFXI until about 2 years ago. I do assume my character is deleted but when they have the return to Vanadiel event will it be retrievable? Also, does anyone know when it may pop up again?

I recently returned to the game after being gone for about 3 years myself. And talking with them on the phone they implied that character data is retrievable during the campaign, but said campaign is not going on at the moment, and according to the people I talked with there is no campaign in the forseeable future (or they just might be stupid).

I figured I'd rather start fresh and enjoy everything I haven't seen yet then wait for goodness knows how long for the campaign for them to maybe bring my character back.

Makes sense. The Return Campaign ended a few months back, and they seem to only do it once every year or so.

Then again, you can't really complain for losing your character data in an MMO that explicitly states in the ToS that you will lose your data if you stop paying.
