Is there alot of roleplay on FFXI?

How much of the active playerbase roleplays? a good or bad guess would be fine

If I Roleplay and am almost never out of character except for EXP parties or some pvp events will I be run out of town?

Is there an server inparticular that roleplays more than others?

If the backstory of their character is that it's an illiterate Elvaan with no grasp of spelling, grammar, or punctuation whom coincidentally likes to challenge everyone they meet to a penis measuring contest, then I'd say roughly 90%.


Otherwise no, not many do.

Your best chance at RPing in game is to first find a LS that actually does it. With the ability to pick your own server from the start or move to a selected server at any time, this is actually easier then ever. Once you find a stable, long running RP LS you can just get on that server and join them.

Sadly RPing is a rare occurance in FFXI

It's rare from the common discouragement of RP'ing from people who do not understand immersing oneself into the game completely, and shun those who do.
In short, RPing ls are nearly teased out of existence.
