Hey guys. I played FFXI a couple of years ago, and then again last year but I could never fully get into the swing of things again. I orginally deleted my 75 RDM Taru, and thus when I came back and got to 50 RDM on an Elvaan it just didn't feel the same. I could never find a decent linkshell any longer, most of my friends had moved on ect.

Thus I'm giving FFXI one more try. Honestly, I miss the game so much. I just hope that this time I can find a nice, small/decent sized group that are interested in helping, chatting and leveling.

I understand most of the community in FFXI is now at endgame, but can I just ask will I still find groups to get me back up to the top? I have the option of continuing my 50 RDM on Valefor but I'm looking to have a total restart and change server.

Can you guys please tell me about leveling at the lower levels these days, perhaps recommend a server for someone looking for some lower levels, but decent endgame and perhaps a linkshell?

If not all, any replies will be appreciated I'm downloading the game again as i type. Thanks for reading folks.


EDIT: If any returning players read this and are also remaking, I'd love to get talking about some low level static grouping or similar.

A friend and I just returned to Carby after a similar back and forth deal. I got to the 50s with BLM on Fairy, but I'm going DD this time and he's doing the WHM BRD track, so we're hoping to be able to pull parties together easily enough.
Linkshells are definitely different now. You'll have a handful of level 75 people in at any given time, but it seems like regardless of level so many people are still noobs. So essentially, I'm looking for competent restarters as well/a semi-static for getting back in the game.
I don't have high level friends of much help but you're more than welcome to join up on Carbuncle!

Hey Feverwork, thanks for the quick reply. Have you guys started up again already started on Carbuncle? I dont know much about other servers, the only one I was considering was originally Remora. Doesn't matter to me though.

Personally I'm planning on playing either RDM like the old days, or trying out the PLD path. A friend will be joining me in around a month, so that could come in handy. Are you guys thinking of setting up a small linkshell and getting a few people together to work your way up?

EDIT: I'm in an Aion guild so a member there is coming with me to Final Fantasy also but not quite yet. So I was definetly thinking about the static factor but who knows.

I just hit 18WAR and my WHM friend is 10 or so now. I'm going DRK, though, so there'll be plenty of re-levelling of subs and whatnot. I'm in two decently sized linkshells, and so far they've been helpful and do quests and missions, but in the end you just have to hook up with the right people.
At this point I'm just trying to get in a LS that's already going, with higher hands who can help runs and missions, but no doubt I'd like to start up a group if we found enough people.

Hey I know how you feel.Also stoped playing a couple years ago.70 WHM and 68 BRD were my main.Never got to lvl that much.Was lvl 70 whm since I started.I just always like helping out smaller LS's and my home LS that I had since the beginning.I had some endgame LS's I helped out with.Never wanted anything from them I just went along to help whenever they needed it.

Tried going back a year ago and everything just changed.All my friends moved on with life and I truthful felt kinda sad lol.Still a few people left but in the long run I moved on with life too.Now im thinking of comeing back because I miss FFXI most of all.I have yet to play another game close to ffxi.When I went back a year ago seemed to me there were still alot of parties going on.Low lvl ones.So i think you can.Well best of luck.Hope ya find what your looking for.And RDM too as a BRD and WHM I preferred RDM shhh dont tell anyone...lol

LastJohn if your looking for a loyal friend, your more than welcome to join me. I'm currently only at dunes levels, and I'm looking to gain a few good friends back on my journey to 75 BRD. I returned to my old server Valefor in the end, simply because it's evenly balanced in levels and has a decent population.

Joking aside, if it's a game you enjoy and like playing then come back. It's a game, however frustrating, dramatic and annoying it can be sometimes, you're supposed to enjoy it

Well just to save Fallen from necroing the post, I'm still here ^^ I started a Mithra up on my old server and I've currently got 43 RDM, 30 WHM among other things. That's made me realise I've hit that in just under a month o.o I'm good.

Anyway I'm enjoying being back and I've made plenty of great new friends
