Well its been over 3 years..

Its been over 3 years since I played FFXI and was just wondering a few things.

1) Is the game still hard to level? By hard I mean you had to have the perfect group to get good exp chains, which meant you needed a BRD or RDM to back up your healer/party.

2) I think I know the awnser after reading the sticky,
How can I find out if my character still exist. Will I need the lastest XP to find out if he is still in the database, also I don't have the same credit card and most likely won't have the old card number either.

3) Is it legal to sell/buy accounts.

4) How is end game these days? I tried looking up new gear and it seems that most gear is still the same, no new artifact gear.. just the same plan old gear from long long ago.

I mainly want to come back again but with 2 other friends. I remember it being hard to level up since I was an elvaan drk and would take me days to find a group willing to take me. My gear was superb just that elvaans have a really high miss ratio. With a very slow swinging scythe .. missing was not very good at all. I stopped at lv65 and want to come back now and not have to start all over. Any info is appreciated. Thanks!

Leveling is not difficult. Boring and time-consuming maybe, but not hard. It really depends on when you are LFG and your level range.

Not positive, but you may need your old CC#. Someone should correct me if I'm wrong.

No. Any kind of trading of real currency for virtual goods is very much against the rules.

Endgame is a lot more than just artifact gear. There has been plenty of gear added over the past 3 years.

Re: Well its been over 3 years..

What was not true 3 years ago? If you mean the game I guess your right I stopped playing around november so it would be about 2 1/2 years.

Also with what I believe to be 2 new expansions?, that are out (I stopped the month Chains of Promathia came out) is there a lot more new places to level up in or the same area's as before (lv1-50)? I'm kinda excited to start playing FFXI. It truely has been my favorite mmo.. I've been playing WoW since it released only because it would take me several days to find groups for leveling =( and got really upsetting as my other friends just coasted on by me since they were the ideal jobs needed for groups.

One more question and my last! Thanks for being patient with me due to my own lack of research.

Is there character transfers assuming I was able to get my account back. I know I was on Garuda and my friend I believe was on Ragnarok. Either way, once we start playing again I'll start fresh if I have to.

yes character transfer is now a pay service, it will cost you $25, but you can switch servers

I looked that up and SE is asking for too much money. I think I'm going to help my cousin get on his feet(the only reason why I returned to the game after a 3 yr no FFXI policy). And that's it. There aren't enough low lvls on pandemonium. I guess if I stay I am going to have to delete my character and move to a different server.
