A quick question

Hello to everyone, im new on these forums. I have played FFXI many many years ago, and im thinking about returning to the game sometime soon. But I have a question. I have read that after 3-12 months your characters get deleted, so I most likely have no hope of seeing my old chars again. So im making a new character, but my wife wants to play with me, how would I get us both on the same server when we start? Or am I gonna have to play by myself and get enough money to buy a world pass (if thats even what its called, its been awhile) If anyone can answer this I would appreciate it very much, thank you.

SE only deletes characters when they need space on the server. They don't delete your guy just because you quit or after a specific time frame. SE just doesn't guarantee your character will continue to exist after 3 months without service.

You don't need world passes anymore. You can just pick your server.

There are Gold World Passes that you can use to invite completely new players (fresh account, never activated before), and get goodies after the account's been active for a certain time, but if all you want is to be on the same server, you don't need anything.

I am a returning player too. I was so sure that my characters were gone. I deactivated my account around October after a year of inactivity and uninstalled FFXI to make room for WoW. It was ok for awaile but it just got boring after a time. Something about FFXI taunted me to come back.

So I re-installed everthing last week. Used the old discs so the Updates were like half a day long

I plugged my POL ID and anxiously selected reactivate. And it worked! I was able to retrieve my Content ID after almost 6months.

Very true! You can pick any server you'd like. I just came back after 2+ years of being away and I'm currently playing with my girlfriend on Quetz.

I do have a reccomendation for you though... since you have played the game before, get a Gold World Pass and have your wife activate her account with it, that way if you get further in the game with a class than she is there is a special hat that will lower your level to be even with her's also some rather good rewards for moghouse or your choice of any event item (Except the Orphic Egg I think.... anyway this page will help Gold World Pass - FFXIclopedia - a Wikia Gaming wiki ) The rewards come with time but they are pretty fun.
