Returning player from 4 years ago.

its been 3-4 years years ago since ive played, i quit around the summer of 2004.
however because of the new vanadiel return service that came up recently i was interested in getting my character back and trying for a second chance, perhaps this time more enjoyable than the last.

ive been playing for roughly a whole month now, ever since the return service began, and ive gotten the hang of most of the new game mechanics. however my real issue is that i see alot of players that i once knew from back when i quit, many however i no longer remember how i knew the person or how we met, perhaps in the same LS at the time, or random friends, friends of friends, or party-mates.

infact there are a few people on my friendslist who still continue to play, but i seriously doubt they'll remember me, or even if their the same player (perhaps they sold their account or whatnot?)

if anyone has gone through the same situation, have you made any attempt to reestablish contact with such people?

I was in a similar situation on Seraph the first time I returned to the game. I sent a few folks that I knew pretty well at one point a tell and let them know I was back, and just saying hi. Most responded favorably.^^

I never really went away except for a few weeks, yet there are tons of people I don't remember or remember well on my /friendlist. It's to the point where I generally refuse to add more people in hopes of saving myself some embarrassment. ._.

That said, every time I bump into someone on /friendlist whom I don't remember well, I try to be friendly and honest, and usually they never get mad. (I try to at least do a /wave.) Usually, we'd have good conversations, too.

yeah ive decided to do the same too, i figure they knew me once, and we had some kind of social activity that was probably positive, so it wouldnt be bad to try and say hi at the least.
