From FF11, to SWG, to CoH, to Wow, and back again.
So I bought the bundle of all four parts for 20 dollars. Good deal since I've been out of it so long. Now coming back to this game with a more mature and knowledgeable attitude towards games like these, I hope to give it another try.

I really don't care anymore about MMO's and time. All MMORPGs I've played take time. Playing WoW has shown me a valuable lesson. The time it takes for you to get somewhere means nothing if the time you invest turns out to not be as rewarding as you thought. A good game in its own right, but not my cup of tea.

I've done research on what can be done in FF11, and I like what I'm seeing variety wise. I remember I played to lvl 31 my first time around as a red mage, but alas, in my noobish state, I was so one-track minded on pure leveling that I really gimped myself. Its like feeling that your an 30 year old that’s still living in the parents basement, instead of being 30 and owning your own business and being married and having kids. Metaphors ftw. Anyway, I've had enough of just straight leveling. Now I realize that its better, and more entertaining, and getting more value, to spread out your activities.
So enough with the philosophical ranting and self-justification. It's time to try something different.

With that said, I was wondering if there’s anyone here who could point me in a general direction. Maybe tell me a good guild to look for as a low level, etc. I do really miss the more team oriented play-style of final fantasy 11. Also I'm in no rush. I just want to enjoy it for what it is. Like Lieutenant Ross says in fullmetal alchemist, one should try just going a bit more, without worrying about the end result. Doing it is worth something in itself.

Hopefully I didn't make the message so long nobody is going to want to read it and therefore I get no replies

you played CoH and SWG? if so what were your character names and what servers. also i can not recomend any Linkshelll for you to join as i am not subbed to FF11 as of right now ^^ ive played all of those so far you have mentioned, WoW= weak, easy to level not worth it. SWG, fantastic till NGE hit. CoH amazing game until you hit max level, peacebringers and warshade seem dry. FF11 Awsome game, hate de leveling but none the less a great game. most likley the best game ive played

Re: From FF11, to SWG, to CoH, to Wow, and back again.
I dont remember what server I was on in SWG, but my character name was Van'Klain. A twilek. CoH I played as several names, such as darkscope and lightscope in an attempt to sound all hero like, but still not sure what server.

SWG, until they screwed it up for me, was very enjoyable due to the variety, but lacked enough direction. CoH gave plenty of direction but was just too simple. I didn't get very far so It could have been better. WoW was a bit better, but still too one-track. Most of the time you don't even need to do crafting or anything like that to get far. I know I didn't, and I'm already prepped for the first half of the first raid in Burning Crusade.

So, therefore Im giving FF11 another go, this time not worrying about where I'm going ot end up.

Leveling was a mix of good and bad, but in retrospect I'd say there were more good than bad moments. Definately though, much more memorable than WoW.

Re: From FF11, to SWG, to CoH, to Wow, and back again.
WoW isn't really for everyone, as it is the same with FFXI. What WoW does bring to the table, is that it smooths out the issues prevalent in FFXI still. Like job class alienation or semi-instanced events in which we have drama over (Dynamis)

Every game has its good and bad. I think how the game handles this and effectively makes it playable to a large portion of their account holders differentiate them from others. In this manner, FFXI succeeds in some areas while WoW succeeds in others. There are also other games with their little success and in-roads, but these are the two titles I feel that have either progressed or matured a lot.

I read more towards the end cause I'm tired at the moment. You can join Midgardsormr if you'd like, I have an excellent linkshell, that will help you with almost anything, except hand-outs. We'll help with missions, quests, job quests, you name it, and we'll gladly help you. We'd even level low level jobs with you. This game takes a very large amount of time to really get anything done, but it's enjoyable to quite a few people.

Glad to see you coming back again, and I hope you enjoy it more, and try not to rush this time like you say. If you're interested, join Midgardsormr, and look up Reikouki, Kuroitaru, Crystalchan, Fuzzbuzz, Katelyn, Silentsteel, and if none of those are on, just check later. We'll get you a pearl and help you start up again. ^^

Thanks to Roguewolf for the sig. :D

Hmm. Just an observation:

If you're not making a nuisance of yourself, you will find people who casually (and voluntarily) help out newbies like you. And, while partying, if you keep up a positive attitude, you'll likely bump into people who are fun, knowledgeable, and helpful.

Those are the people to befriend, I think, and whose linkshells you'd want to join. Every other person on the forums seem to think s/he has a great LS, but it's hard to know whether you'd "click" with the group unless you spend some time interacting with the members.

Guess I'm against looking for linkshell on forums in general--at least, for social linkshells. ^_^;
