Chance to get back Characters?

Hey,

I quit FF11 about two years ago, maybe a bit longer, and am thinking of coming back now. I reactivated my POL account today and it works fine, but when I went to reactivate content IDs it said there are none. I knew they wouldn't keep my characters there forever (but I still had a little hope), so now I'm trying to figure out if there is a way to get them back anyway.
I spoke to a Live Chat Support person and he said the only way is the Return to Vanadiel campaign, but he cannot tell me when there will be one again.
So yeah, nobody seems to know when that chance will come up again, which sucks.
Has anyone had success getting old characters back by calling support?
Is there any chance, or does that only work when you accidently delete a character or something?
I'm pretty disappointed right now, just looking for people who have experience with this, or who have done it.

I actually still trying to reactivate my account but without luck, i even wasted 15 buck to call long distance and ask. In the end all i got is a "No, but there might be a return campaign this month or next month".

So cross your fingers now. I suggest we start a post on major forums (include japanese BBS) and if there is enough support there might be a return campaign just before the expansion.

They have done it several times in the past, so that alone is a good enough reason for why they would do it at some point.

OP: Two years is a really long time. If they have a Return to Vanadiel campaign, they might be able to restore your character. If that's the only way you're going to come back, then you'll just have to wait. Otherwise, you could buy a new content ID and start somewhere from scratch. It all depends on how strong your desire to play again is.

Yeah, back when I quit, I thought I would never ever come back either!
I wouldn't mind that much to start from 0 again, it's just that I really loved my character, I'd love to just have her back, plus it'd be a little money/gear to help my boyfriend and me getting started again.
Sure I knew they said they wouldn't keep characters forever (I just never cared since I didn't wanna come back), and I'm not blaming them now, I'm just disappointed that they make is so so hard for returning players. Most other games I've played welcome old players back, and kept their characters and stuff saved.
It's almost like they don't want anyone to come back. That, or they want us to spend more money on a new copy... but that's a bummer for many of us returning players.
Oh well. I'm up for waiting a little while, but if there's no campaign within the next two or three months, then ... I'll change my plans, lol.

I lost my character due to inactivity, SMN/WHM (yes ive played before on titan) although not high, she was my most prized posession but then inevitably got deleted. After a few months after deletion i decided to come back. Heck ill start from level 1 again , just to beable to work my way up to SMN/WHM again

Most likely, 2-3 month won't even have the campaign consider the expansion is set to be release in winter.
They only and ONLY doing return campaign whenever an expansion come out.

Mpost people said there been few return campaign before but when i check archive, the only return campaign happen only during release of TOAU

like wolf said, there may be a return compaign when the new expansion gets released, i was unlucky as i found today that my character is only 1 year old, so ill be reactivating her on saturday ^^ SMN/WHM again FTW
