New or Returning players UNITE!

I've posted this in a different forum but I haven't seen many people interested. My plan is to find new or returning players and have all of us join the same server. That way we can help eachother out and later perhaps have people to party with.

In the other forum the suggested servers were Titan and Bahamut. If you have other server suggestions and are interested in this idea then post away! Any constructive criticism is welcome as well.

I think you should either give up or change your plans.

Most readers and posters on any FFXI forum are hardcore players. In that population, a small minority have quit and want to come back--but most of those returning players will want to go back to the server they used to be on, and make contact with their old friends.

I wouldn't expect too many new players on the forum, and fewer still of either new or old players who would follow through on a proposal from a total stranger and commit to friendship, spending time together, and making efforts to help him even if they do agree at first.

If you really want a community from the get go, you're best bet is to import real life friends (or friends from some other MMO) to build a LS which has natural cohesiveness.

As for server, I'm not sure either... my old one was Midgardsormererer, but the only tie I had to that server was my cousin whom left the game a while ago too.

So, I suppose I'd be up for any server.

Alright! So far we've got about 4 or five people interested which is a good start.

The server count is:
Bahamut: 2
Titan:1
Midgar...: 1

I'll start contacting people interested through the forums in the next couple days to decide on a server. I'll also try to get emails so we can keep in touch with the people who aren't joining right away.

Also, Galaxia = Meiou? I spotted some similarities, but maybe I'm wrong.

Hey I would totally be down for some of that action myself. I was previously on siren but don't have any attachments to that server. Other than a world pass is there a way to request what server you go to? I thought that it was assigned randomly or you were sent to the server with the least amount of people.

Maybe one of these sages of wisdom and knowledge would invite some rusty playas to their server and take us under their wing lol!!

OK! So I've had a busy day but I'll start contacting people really soon through PM's or if I can find their email. No one has sent me an email: unseen_tragedy@hotmail.com but feel free email me to skip the PM/ contacting process.

So far we have about 6-7 people interested, which is great!

Servers voted for:

Bahamut: 2
Titan: 1
Midgar:3
Undecided: 1-2

I've looked at AH prices at FFXIAH.com and Midgardsormr(hate spelling this) has a fairly average prices. Bahamut is a little more but still probably doesn't matter much.

As it stands, the most votes has been for Midgar so I will ask if people are ok with this and, once that it is settled, I can start to acquire WP's for everyone. Please check your PM's and reply with your email so we can get in contact. Or feel free to email me instead. I'm very excited about this.

Update:

5-6 people responded to my PM's today. About 3 are game and good to go.

Final Server Choice: Midgardsormr

I will contact people through emails/PM (whichever specified as preferred) and keep people updated. I will also start acquiring WP's and the like.

Future plans:

Set up a Ventrilo server so we can talk while playing the game.(without typing omghax!!1!!)
Perhaps set up or join a LS with a high ratio of lower lvl characters.

If you have players that aren't on PC, then Ventrillo isn't going to be all that helpful to them. Unless they have a PC right next to their console.

I'm on Midgardsormr and can help you aquire a few WPs, but as for helping with missions and stuff, I am unavailable. I am wayyyy behind on LS activities and all my playtime needs to go into catching up.

Hm, I forgot about the Ps2 and 360 users. What program can they both use then? ( I can't seem to get my server up and running for Vent anyway. I'll mess with the ports in my router a bit more and see but I think I may be outta luck. Maybe skype?)

As for WP, I've been "searching" all day and will probably get one soon. You can still get me one though if you'd like.

There is no program they can both use.

Or better put -- these are dedicated gaming platforms. Unless the game specifically supports VoIP, which FFXI doesn't, you don't get to use voice chat (unless they hace a PC right next to them as Murphie stated).
