Please help: Dying to return to FFXI

Hello FFXIO, I was a regular here back during the days of NA release and about 8 months afterwards. Somehow my account (Mize) is not letting me create new topics though. If an admin reads this I'd appreciate if you could look into that .

To the point: I played up until about June '04. I cancelled my content ID subscription on my character, but left her intact and did not delete. 4 or 5 months later, I returned to find that my character had been erased due to the 90 day inactivity. That was upsetting, as all of you know how much work FFXI takes compared to any other MMO, ever. I gave up then, assuming it was set it stone that my char was gone for good.

I was recently talking to an old friend from Fairy who had mentioned a "Return to Vana'diel" event. I couldn't find much on it, and I tried calling POL support for two days straight, but got a constant busy on dozens of calls. I think this was due to the Treasures expansion just releasing. I also couldn't get anyone on live chat, and still haven't gotten a reply from the support email I sent. I also read the sticky up top about recovering characters, but I don't think that applies to me.

So I turn to you all-knowing FFXIO members. Here is the situation:

- Character content ID cancelled approx. June '04.
- Character auto-erased due to 90 day inactivity.

Is it at ALL possible to retrieve this character? Do I have any shred of hope of seeing my 65 BRD again and returning to the MMO I got the most enjoyment out of? Thank you in advance for any help you can give me, I am very serious about this and really miss the game. The idea of being able to get my char back has my head spinning.

I'd suggest you call Square-Enix and ask about their Return to Vana'diel 2006 program. They can tell you more about whether or not you can recover your old character(s). I've heard of cases where it has been done, but it's not guaranteed by any stretch.

Try not to create a new character until you've checked into recovery, as it may interfere with the recovery process (or so I've been told).

Thank you, I'll keep trying tonight. Can you please take a look at my normal account ("Mize") and see if it has been deactivated? I wasn't able to use it to make this thread and had to create a new account to do so.

According to your user profile, you never completed your registration on that account. Check the email address you registered with and find the activation link to confirm registration.

Fixed it, thanks. Looks like the forum profiles changed somehow while I was gone and I had to re-enter my profile info to continue. It then sent another activation request because of that.

Well, I got them back! Thanks to the info I found on the forums here I was able to locate the 2006 Return Home to Vana'Diel application and found that my characters can be recovered. Amazing that after 2 years they are still there. Can't wait to play, see you around on Fairy .
