Cancelled Content ID, lost POL ID, help...

ok, I stopped playing FFXI a while ago (not sure if it has been 90 days or not..) and I didn't delete my character, but cancelled my content Ids. I have lost my POL id but still have all my registration codes. I went on to playonline.com and realized that I qualify as a "type A" return home to vanadiel member. Here are the requirements:

The Return Home to Vana'diel Campaign - Type A - The applicant must be a former PlayOnline member (i.e. the person whose name was registered) who played FINAL FANTASY XI before cancelling the account. - The membership information of the applicant has been deleted, thus the regular reactivation process for PlayOnline accounts and FINAL FANTASY XI Content IDs cannot be used.


So, i go to apply and it says that I can !EITHER! enter my POL id OR one of the registration codes and all of my information. I enter my registration code and all of my information, hit accept, and then it gives me an error saying "you need to enter your POL id". I thought that the entire PURPOSE of a TYPE A application was that it was for people who LOST their pol ids??? wtf?? Any advice? thanks

it doesn't say anything about lost IDs. It only says this is for accounts that "can not be used". So yea you still need to have your ID.

Try call pol service. they may be able to retrieve the ID for you.

they make it sound like you only need one or the other, not both. I guess they are just stupid.

Damon, have you had any luck getting your ID back?
I want to come back and what not but am weighing a new account vs the stuggle of getting my ID back.

I tried the return to vana'diel campaign as well, tried writing my registration code and a invalid POL ID, and it said both my registration code and POL ID were incorrect...that is weird, I just can't remember my POL ID as it was a insane mix of capital letters and numbers and it's been so long since I played last, this system made it pretty much impossible for old players to return, this sucks.

I recently found my POL ID written on the Manual, and it still says my pol ID and registration codes is incorrect, is it maybe because I got the EU version and its only the US site that has the return home to vana'diel campaign?

I believe so.. Not sure though but I remember reading something about that.

About POL ID's:

If you're TYPE A you have two possibilities:

- Applicants who possess both their previous PlayOnline ID and registration code(s)

OR

- Applicants who possess either their previous PlayOnline ID or registration code(s)

I think you are Type A and second group. If you have your registration codes you should be able to recover your character by using:

1. Enter your PlayOnline ID or one of your registration codes.*
2. Enter the name used on the previous account.
3. Enter all previously registered personal information (e.g. date of birth, phone numbers, etc.).
4. Enter a current e-mail address where you can be contacted.

-> If your reg code doesnt work try with another one (POL, FFXI, Zilart, Promathia).

I was Type B and it didn't let me recover chars until I tried with another reg code and it work ok.

PD: Recovering a POL ID is quite hard. I think you must call and give a lot of info.

Then, it's likely that this Return To Vanadiel Campaign is US only..

Yeah and the EU one just ended today talk about bad luck

I really want to play Final Fantasy XI again but if it meens buying a whole new FFXI game then i'll pass, paying once for a game should give me limitless access like so many other MMORPGS, this is ridicilous

JP bidniss model is different then NA/European I suppose.

I am going for a fresh start anyway-the patch time alone is enough for me.

Too bad to hear you missed EU campaign FFXI is really cheap, it comes with all the expansiones. Check it!

I had a lot of trouble also. It took me forever to get all the old codes/registration numbers to get my POL ID from them over the phone. Anyway 2 days later, I input everything and got new ID codes and whatnot, then at the bottom of the page it says "Characters able to be restored: 0" Looks like I got fuct

At least you don't have to buy it again if you want to play but yeah, its a pity

Could you tell me what information did they ask you on phone to recover your POL ID? Thank you

They asked for the original credit card number used to sign up, the original playonline or ffxi registration code, and my birth date, addresss, etc. Everything seemed to be going well until I saw that grim message on the website..then the guy on the phone said "sorry dude" and I started a BLM..good luck though.
