I haven't exactly cleared all the games I need to play off my list, but I have been having trouble actually getting into them recently and am finding myself with a bunch of time and nothing to do recently. I blame my SNES, every time I replay Secret of Evermore or Super Mario RPG I realize how much the quality of video games has degenerated since the SNES and looking at my shelf of newer games actually becomes depressing.

Tried filling the gap with a WoW private server for a while, but when you've played on retail and know how things are supposed to work playing on a bugged up private server just doesn't cut it. Not really feeling into the game enough to drop $40 on Wrath of the Lich King either.

The problem is I generally find myself getting pretty lonely when I try to come back to FFXI. The last time I played was for about a year, and the entire time I had no real linkshell and an empty friends list. It was just me and my partner duoing our way to 60 before we both quit for one reason or another.

She's off to greener pastures now, so I would basically be coming back to nothing but me, myself and I. Does anyone here play on Remora? I guess what I am looking for is a decently active social LS where I can just chat and meet people and not feel like I am the only person on the server.

It would be nice to eventually see some of FFXI's story too, I first started playing at NA release but even though I have played the game on and off since then I have never done anything beyond getting Rank 5 for the airship pass. That is an entirely different matter that I can worry about if I actually do get back into the game though.

I feel ya man. Everytime I try to pick up a new game it just seems to be redundant and loses it's charm quite fast. I had to force myself to finish FFX, and I feel that FFXII had no spirit in it at all. The characters while having become more realistic graphically, lose all their emotion.

I'm looking forward to FFXIII Versus, I think it might be this series saving grace.

I don't think I'll ever return to FFXI again for the same reasons that you have already mentioned. I felt that even though I was in a LS everyone was on their own agenda. I would help out people when I could, but when it came to return the favor, everyone has excuses. Not to mention that it takes forever to do anything, wait for the airship, wait for the boat, wait to find a party, etc.

I loved the character designs and the emotes, but it's not enough to fix a broken game.

But hey that's just my opnion. I haven't played in like 4 years so maybe things have changed, but knowing how Square-Enix has dealt with customer complaints in the past, I highly doubt it.

Okay, now I have questions.

Does the economy still suck?
Is forced grouping still the only way to level up?
Do you still have to wait forever for boats/airship/groups/etc.?
Do you still have to spend massive amounts of time and supplies to raise crafting?
Does it still take forever to get from place to place if you aren't a WHM with teleports?
Is there a now true PVP action instead of a game where you have to dig stuff up?
Are there still gil sellers camping all good item bosses and monopolizing the AH?
Do DRG's still suck? :p

If some of these problems were addressed then the game would be a lot better. Hell I would even consider coming back.

DRG was never a bad job, just misunderstood by the community. DRG bashing got old, so the new misunderstood job is Puppetmaster.

Which really sucks for me because PUP is my favorite job, but invites are scarce and I don't really want to solo level it.

On the remora server the economy does not suck
You can solo exp quite well with most jobs now so forced grouping is not the only way (thanks to FoV
Airships and boats do take awhile i'm afraid, and parties can be quick or can be long, but as said most can solo so u can put ur flag up while u solo
U can farm most items for crafting and infact from most crafts ive done, clothcraft, leathercraft and woodwork there is profit right from the start as well as prices cheaper than they were in AH
If ur not a whm u can still use OP warps to get u around the gaming world very quickly
No idea about PvP, never done it
I havent encountered many gil sellers as SE started to crack down on them
Drgs are awesome, though i havent used it myself, many if my LS members use it, even a taru, and hes very gud with it.
