Qucik question about gear.

I have a level 39 Rdm (Was 40 until I died twice doing AF1 -.-; ), and I was wondering what gear would be considered as *decent* for a healing set up, and what type of gear would be good for doing Royal Jelly, I know I need Int, and Mind Gear, but what other stats? Also, if you could provide an armor set for Rdm that would be great.

Also... Is there a way to increase the Potency of "Convert" with gear, so that I can gain more Mp, or not be as close to death when I do use convert?

Convert Macro is: /ja "Convert" <me>, /wait 1, /ja "Divine Seal" <me>, /wait 1, /ma "Cure III" <me> right?

Thank you.

When I hit lvl 51, I am planning on getting a Light, Dark, and Wind staff (For Rdm Maat fight Gravity+Aero III.)

Re: Qucik question about gear.

For Royal Jelly (or Under Observation) you don't really need much gear other than +MP stuff and some int/mind pieces to macro for some spells.

To max your Convert you need to make the usual MP gear macro so you can swap in all your +mp gear before converting, then swap back your INT/MND/etc gear when you have used the mp excess. Also, making a Convert macro (/ja Convert <me>) was always more trouble than it was worth for me, but it depends on your playstyle.

AF1 sucks so I wouldn't bother with it until you are unlocking AF at lvl 50+, get a Buzzard tuck or something instead.

(Although I still have my AF weapon in storage just because even though I've probably only used it once)

I don't know much about +mp gear nowadays, but electrum/ether rings (or astrals) plus RSE depending on your race are pretty useful at that level (40).

Edit > About staves, get at the very least Aquilo's (cheap, very very cheap) Wind, Earth, Light and Dark.

Water to boost Poison acc and Lightning for Stun. So in the end the only one I haven't really used for anything other than nuking has been Fire, all the rest will get used fairly often, specially at higher levels.

Re: Qucik question about gear.

Cool Thanks. I wil look into investing into some Gear. I do have two Hp-20, Mp+20 rings, trying to get the astral for max Mp boosting. I need some gil to get int + stuff (only at 8k, going to do BCNM later on today), so if I am lucky I can get a few items for my rdm and macro more gear swaps.

I'll look into the Aquilo's staff for later on, and the earth one. I don't really see my taking much damag eunless in end game though, so the earths taff is really last on my list, it might be good for the Rdm maat fight, if he breaks from gavity early, and its still on Cd, and he kills my SS lol

Re: Qucik question about gear.

Earth is mainly for Slow (along with MND gear), and Aquilo's for Para (MND gear too) and Blizzard III.

On Maat's fight you might want to stick both spells on him as a safety net, specially Para, so staves can help you a lot there.

Re: Qucik question about gear.

Ok. I'll look into the staves that you metioned. I will be getting the entire set when I am able to, but for now, I only want the ones that I absolutley need. I know Light and Dark should be the top proirities, and they are fairly cheap. i will also be looking into getting the HQ ones when possible as well.

<edit> Also... Whats the best staff for casting Stone Skin?

Re: Qucik question about gear.

Yeah, if you are interested in doing end-game stuff other than Dynamis HQ staves are a good investment, but I never needed them (only got Aquilo's because it was very cheap).

I'd focus on getting functional sets first. Depending on what you are going to do with your RDM there are many sets of gear you might need.

MP set, hmp set, INT/Nuking/Enfeeb set(s), MND/Enfeeb set, melee set(s) and I'm probably forgetting something. (Get your gobbie bag ready for the weight)

Most of those sets are cheaper and will give you way more benefits than the little upgrade from NQ to HQ staves could ever give, specially if you consider the price.

PS > In before min/max-ing and gear swapping space rants.

Re: Qucik question about gear.

I will only get them if I can afford them. They are fairly expensive The NQ ones should be good for now anyways.

I have been doing the gobby bag quests, and will start working on gear for set macros when I get the money for it. I do hate gear swapping, but its allowed in FFXI, so I will do it if its needed.

I am interested in Doing Syna, Limbus, Sea,Sky, HNMS, and the other stuff, but I don't want to get sucked into it like a few of my friends have. :/

Water/Neptune's has MND, that's what I use. SS is easy to max on RDM.

Re: Qucik question about gear.

Nah, it's not 100% necessary. I can cap Stoneskin perfectly fine on all my jobs without Kirin's Pole. Of course, I have tons of other MND gear from WHM, but the inventory +1 was nice.
