Swap in a balance of HP and MP gear, basically. You'll get more opportunities to play around with that as you get higher up.

My convert macro is basically the same as yours. Although, I fire off Divine Seal first, then Convert, and finally Cure 4. Going into the red, I'd prefer to Cure myself faster.

Sort of. From a recast perspective alone, one point of Fast Cast will have only half the impact of one point of Haste. Casting a spell in a Warlock's Chapeau or in a Walahra Turban will have the same 5% reduction in recast time.

There are really only two pieces of Fast Cast gear you'll ever be concerned about getting as a Red Mage, and they're pretty major effects: the Warlock's Chapeau (complete RDM AF questline, good luck with Miser Murphy), and the Duelist's Tabard (Dyna-Glacier Relic IIRC), both of which some form of AF.

In other words, aside from the head and the body, Fast Cast is a moot point.

You're not going to have to worry much about Ancient Beastcoins anyway until you're 75 anyway.

Also, everybody knows that it's the lolquacious earring. If you have 75 Ancient Beastcoins lying around anyway, do yourself a favor and choose the Brutal Earring over the piddly 1% recast timer reduction.

But by the time I am 75, I wont be doing any melee except for when I am helping people kill lower lvl NMs, and such though. I thought that the earring wont really do much though :/
