Of course I don't really believe this, (although the thought really has honestly crossed my mind a time or two, evil SE). I'm just venting my frustration at the WotG dragon for using Voidsong and wiping all my buffs (of course immediately after casting Utsu NI) and then double attacking twice in a row, with all four hits as critical hits, when he was probably four hits from death himself. Next time I will bring a Vile Elixir +1. (Not that soloing this is anything even remotely incredible, just fun, I'll still post a vid of it next time I go if anyone wants it.)

I also wanted to say hello to everyone, and I know this isn't really the normal place for that, but since I've been gone for about a year and spend most of my time here with my fellow RDMs, I wanted to say it here. I've missed you all (well, okay, most of you) and it's good to be back.

As another completely unrelated note, for any RDM who does not yet have Evisceration, if you want an easy but fun fight against BB, bring along a SAM/DNC to tank it, and the two of you duo it.

Point. That is just bad luck though, and considering soloing this fight is mostly luck anyway... But using Voidsong at the end like that, well it was just mean. Sometimes I think the mobs like that are secretly played by SE employees whose job is to screw with us. I'm quite sure some evil little man controls my NPC, as even a computer could not be that dumb.

I would have to agree. My story is short and painful.

6 BLU trying to get Asuran Claws. We have the Gnole down to 10% and it just used Asuran Claws. We spam every DD spell (mostly I see is Dissmemberment, Frentic Rip, and Hysteric Barrage). It starts uses Plenilune Embrace(657 hp) 6 times in a row bring it back to full hp as we are out of mp...we wipe.

That's right. If it happens to a player, it's obviously superb skill and in-depth knowledge of game mechanics!

Actually, I get lucky quite often. That does not however change my position that there are evil little carnies working for SE that do nothing all day but make balloon animals, and kill players.

As an example, when I finally got my joytoy, we camped ol' charby for 13 hours before he finally popped. And when did he pop you ask? When we decided out of boredom to kill the sagahin NM there, I forgot his name. Needless to say, our party and another person who was there getting ToD and tried to help us, all died. As the whm and other rdm were trying to raise the rest of us, an elemental decided it wanted to get a little closer, and rewiped the few of us who were alive. Luckily the whm had reraise back up, and we ended up winning the fight. Now we were extremely lucky that there was no one else there to claim charby, but as for the other stuff, I'm quite sure a couple vertically challenged clowns were laughing like hyenas at the carnage they had created.

I like to believe when the partial randomness of mob WS/spells/etc get the best results consistantly in a fight, that a GM is having some fun. I know this probably isnt true but it make me feel a little better.

If you want a story of true GM cheating, then I have one for you. During the mob despawn when outside there roaming area era, I was a low level BLM/RDM farming in Palogrough Mines (sp?). I was doing my last fight on the second level (a easy pray Quadav but it wasnt the ones who drop keys) before I rest to full. I saw at least 60 first level Quadav(Amber, Amethyst, and Young) drop from thin air into corridor. Then they all began to run in my direction and link with the one I was fighting. In the process of them linking like a snake, it also caused other higher level Quadav in the area to link. I ran...I ended up dying on the elevator because the hole pack was beating me down while the elevator decending.

Exactly. Its not like mobs have the ability to change tactics or only use a specific tactic depending on a players level and job. It would be a very difficult game if the mobs went for the WHM first regardless of what other players did to distract it, low level mobs ran away as soon as a higher level player engaged, or mob casting silence on mage classes first then paralyze on the tank/DDs. When that happens by partial randomness/bad luck, it is usually ends up being a long resting period due to weakness.

lol thats a funny title as a thread. I've always asked myself if there was some kind of cheating code lol in FFXI. Anyway I remember one day when I started to play that SE is maybe cheating... you guys will maybe laugh but I was in batallia and I kept getting killed by the same DAMN ORC. Like he was popping everywhere I was going. I remember each dead I was putting in /say: STOP CHEATING!.(In my noob mind, I was sooo sure that a GM was watching me and wiping me), I think I died like 4 times.... killed but the same orc hahahahahah anyway.
