Rdm Af Hat - Final Fantasy XI :: Dreams in Vana'diel :: Community

OK so Iknow this may not be new to some of you but I felt that after this fight, I find it worth mentioning. Prior to today I had Miser Murphy defeated thanks to a pty Ihad a while back when doing 5-1 and had no problem killing him.

So off to the citadel I go. After much begging and shouting in Whitegate I finally get a 74 RDM to help me out. On our way we pick up one 74 WHM and one 51 WHM and Ibeing lvl 55 RDM we set out to kill the Guardian Statue.

This Fight was insane to say the least. It took us a little over 30 mins to do and I am just astounded that it was done. Alot of ppl kept telling me that I needed an alliance to get this done. We started out by clearing the area of all mobs that might link , then Poped the statue. We started the fight with the 74 RDM tanking ( he subbed NIN) and the rest of us debuffing and curing. After a while we started getting links from the fallen mages in the area. We got really close to death a few times. Something like 3 times. But we pulled it off and I was amazed that it was done. I went through convert like 3 times, and an ungodly amount of MP. But in the end we were triumpant.

Just to say that I find it a testament to the RDM job that we can take on tough fights that most think impossible with out a true DD or tank. After this fight I would argue that point that RDM is one of the greatest if not the best Job to have when it comes to tough fights and staying power in those tough to beat fights

Go Go RDM power! And now I am excited all over again for the job! I can't wait to be able to wear full AF gear

Miser Murphy was a fun fight. I helped my red mage friend out and soloed him on black mage. Everyone says it's a tough fight but I had no problem. <.>

When it goes well it seems like everyone makes it to be harder then it really is. When it goes wrong it goes horribly, horribly wrong and you find out what everyone was talking about.

I'm a lv 55 RDM and I have the first AF only. My cousin is an uber 75 PLD and another is 75 BLM. Do you think we could Trio that?

I trioed AF Hat at level 59 with a 75WHM and a 75MNK. Since you have an actual tank, you have a good shot at it.

There is a wall directly opposite the banishing gate. Have your PLD stand by that wall. The monsters in this zone won't aggro him. You and the BLM stand by the banishing gate in the corner as far from him as you can get. You will need to rest, refresh, and heal exclusively--don't try meleeing.

Don't fight in the room with the box because the skeletons will repop and attack you and the BLM while you are resting (You will aggro them without resting).

The bats in the hallway will also aggro you, but not the BLM or PLD. Keep this in mind when fighting.

Dolls are weak versus Lightning.

Yes, because I know Fun and Ladyfun and they're both good players. I did my fight with 2 PLDs and myself at 58 RDM. With Lady's extra DD power you should have no problem knocking the big statue down.

Cool, then we'll definitely take a shot at this in the next week. I did get Funond killed in Crawler's Nest one time. He had a train of 20-30... Didn't make the zone.

As far as the Miser Murphy fight, I'm not sure if they patched anything that would change it, but back in the day I used the DoT > zone solo method, afaik NMs don't despawn so I'd think this would still be viable. I can't really comment on the doll because mine was done in a nearly full alliance(that was the sort of fight you brought an alliance to back in the day) that had 5-6 level 55-60 RDMs in it and 8~ 75's, obviously it went down kind of quickly.

A RDM/NIN at level 75 can basically solo the NM for RDM/AF3, with just a bit of outside help with cures to zap Sleep effects from Kartstrahl (or just using Poison Potions) and a bit of judicious medicine use like Pamama Au Lait.

I duo'd my AF3 on RDM. RDM75/NIN37 with me on WHM75/BLM37. Didn't even break a sweat.

This was a good fight and I think the biggest problem we ran into was the repops becuase of the fact that we all stayed in the room with the doll to fight. I think if I did it again we would support the 75 RDM that we had from outside the room. All in all although it was a tough fight it was one for the books in my account. I like that a RDM can own so many tough mobs

For my AF+1 hat...

I soloed the doll as 75 RDM/BLU. Blood-tanking NMs ftw.
Soloed Miser also, via zoning DOT/nuke.

I solo'd the statue as 69 SMN, carby kite it and the bats wont agro you at that level.
Also solo'd miser as RDM at 56 I think it was.
