is there anyone out there actually have their second af set? It's similar to the AF1 set in which the hat and body are the only 2 really useful pieces...

It's not extremely difficult to get "some" of it, they are all dynamis drops and you need to just do the correct dynamis. I *WANT* the AF2 pimp hat..but it drops in Dynamis-Xarcabard and good luck getting there. Stats I believe are +10 Enf (not elem) Skill, +4 INT, adds "Refresh" effect O.O You could stack it with the AF1 tabbard for max +enfeebling, and likewise the AF1 hat and AF2 tabbard stack for max +elemental.

I have only been to Dynamis-Windurst, which has no AF2 gear drops but does have the Relic Sword (which dropped about 25 minutes into it and I lotted 941 and won...yaaay me!)

AF2 is very unlike AF1 set. You would be considered gimpish to be in your 60's and not have AF (screw the gloves though, really, i soloed mine at 66) RDM75 is not considered gimp if you don't have duelist gear. Alot of it sucks except for those 2 pieces.

Sucks is a bit harsh

I wouldn't know about sucks, I think that's a bit to harsh.

Boots: dodge and m.atk, nice for soloing, dunno if we can get anything better for MB.

Legs: +10 elemental skill. Enough said.

Hands: MP+18 INT+4 Magic Def. Bonus+2 Enhancing Magic skill+15... Only useful for casting stoneskin, so these I agree on, they suck. Zenith Mitts blow these out of the water any day.

Body: Enhance fast cast. GIVE ME FOR THE LOVE OF GOD AND BABY JESUS!

Tabard: Not all it's hyped to be imho. sure, refresh is very nice, but If I had to choose, I'd take fast cast over refresh. Excellent "pimp" or lazy gear, or for running around/resting. Don't get me wrong, it's good, but I find af1 hat BETTER. Elem skill and fast cast > Enfeebling + Refresh for me.

I can see this being used with tabard tho on those really hard things, like beast gods and the CoP dragons.

The thing is you can mix and match various equipment to maximize a certain area, whether it be enfeebling, elemental, enhancing, fast cast, etc. AF2 is nice, but it's not good enough to be "wear it all the time" equipment.

I only have the gloves right now and I only wear them temporarily when casting enhancing spells that depend on enhancing skill. (+15 from AF2 gloves, +15 from AF1 legs, +7 from enhancing torque)

I switch back to Marine Gloves or Master Caster Bracelets for other spells.

Maximizing fast cast seems like it would benefit HNM fights the most because the cool-off timer on Gravity and Stun would be lowered... ^^

ZING!
(/recast) (Stun) 0.25 (You can have this)

And mixing armor is nothing new to the battlehardened red mage. In fact, I'd go so far as to say that RDM's that DON'T Switch gear past lvl 51 aren't that good rdm's.

They will never reach the full potential of what a Red Mage can be. ^^

(Ask apple pie, it's true)

Fast Cast != Haste. It only makes your spell cast a few % faster. Haste makes the reset timer on your slepps lower. Enhanced Fast Cast only saves your the partial fraction of a second you spent casting the Gravity/Stun

Does Fast Cast affect recast times? Do you want to see for yourself?

Just try recasting stoneskin as a whm/rdm over 30 and try again as whm/blm and see if the timer is affected.

yea, you gain the second or so less it took to cast stoneskin, the timer starts when you initiate the spell, not when the animation ends.

Hmmm.

That was true before the patch that came 2 months ago or so.

Right now, fast cast = fast recast. With haste, march and my chapeau, my stun is just under 30 secs. I've tried it myself

Go cast stoneskin, and then bring up your magic menu.
Watch the recast.
Unequip your Chapeau
Cast Stoneskin, then bring up your menu.

Actually, it's been fast recast ever since end of april/start of may.

By the way, I've been thinking of a certain method to get max Fast Cast and max other skills, like enfeebling.

If the game checks for how many Fast Cast traits you have before you cast a spell, I believe it is possible to wear all Fast Cast prior to a spell being cast, then switch to your desired gear in the middle of casting.

Just thinking about how to implement it is giving me macro nightmares. I'll have to test it out later as I am using an Elite Beret for the +4 enfeebling magic.

I don't want to lose the fast cast on my AF1 hat when using later gear such as Crimson mask or AF2 hat. Also... I want to make the AF2 tabard useful in more areas.

Looks like I'll have to press 3 macros for each spell now...

I have mine....pld tho, it has lotsa Enmity+ which is good, but id prefer to use Koenig, seeing as Valor has less to offer, but looks a million times better.

Meh? april may? Jayzis, this game DOES make you loose perspective XD

What are you on about? If the timer started when you start casting the spell, you'd have to wait for recast after being interrupted. Open you magic menu and look, spell doesn't reset until it complete's it's cast.

Fast cast does = faster recast, i don't know what else to say about it, it just does! hehe

And I should have worded it different, the AF2 doesn't "suck" but as I and others eluded too it is great to macro in to mix-and-match.

You can xp in Warlock Tabbard and Warlock's Chapeau... You probably won't be xp'ing in Duelist's Tabbard and Duelist's Chapeau, it just doesn't add enough.

I want both the hat and vest, that would own... I would agree with the poster above thast said Warlock Chapeau > Duelist Chapeau... However!!! Name one other headpiece that adds enfeebling skill. Offhand, I know none. I would imagine the "Refresh" affect is probably only 1mp/tick, but it would be going in my /rest macro anyways.

Mix-n-match pimp gear?!? {Yes, Please...}

ahh, probably one of those thing S-E managed to change without actually knowing. But since it isnt a nerf, no one is complaining or even noticed. Like kabobs not adding Ranged Attack anymore. :spin:
