Talking Red Mage Appreciation ^^

I recently went to Kazham to the first time(17 seconds before I hated it) and I made WHM's look useless, and I'm very proud of it This party invites me(As the only mage) and immediatly 3 melee say that I'm red mage, and that they can't do without WHM. I was then told to leave by the three people so they could get a white mage. I immediatly told them I brought food, juice, MND and INT plus equips and that I could take full healing, as I did in the 3 parties before them, they were skeptical, but said they would try it anyways. We chain up to 11 on mandys in Yhoater, thanks to my juices, and a tank who held hate great. The melee said nothing the whole time, then 2 hours and 2 levels later, the party was disbanding, and the 3 melee thanked me for being a great healer, saying they didn't know a RDM could do as good a job at healing, nevermind surpassing the average white mage!!!!

PS: They also wanted to know what to do without Poisona, and all I did was cast Regen on anyone who is poisoned, healing a few hp, more than reversing the effect

Anyone else have a good experience like this one pre-Refresh?

... chain #11? /doubt

Anyway, yes ^^ Pre-30 RDM can be a ghetto WHM or a ghetto BLM. I remember being a ghetto BLM in Qufim levelling on Acrophies... it wasn't that good but we were able to chain fairly well (3~4 on a NA pickup party in Qufim is nice~). I also remember being a ghetto WHM in Kazham, which was very nice as well.

making white mages look silly is fun, especially in kazham where the annoying ones think they're god and their presence in the party is a blessing. my favorite parties are where the white mage and i back each other up and everything goes great. haven't had one of those in awhile though.

I rested a bit between pulls, but i had 3 yag drinks and a stack of rolanberry pies to keep my MP up. I don't care if you don't believe I got chain 11, I know I did and i thought it rocked My 2nd highest is only chain 4 :/

My PT also had very good gear which kept damage minimal for me

I don't think a chain 6-7 is possible let a lone a chain 11.

For one... if you were to chain toughs..... the chain resets after 5 regardless if you could kill it fast enough for a 6th.

No. 2 The amount of time you have to kill the mob to get a chain lessens each time. I saw a website/forum that stated how long it was for each battle, but I forget it.... maybe i'll have to search around.

But the highest i've gone was skillchain 5.

Hmmm. Maybe i'll get my ls together and chain toughs while using our 2hour once per mob.. (6 2hr specials) on 6 different mobs.... and see if i can get a Chain 6

Yuhtunga Mandragoras are from LV30 to LV33 (All of them are ITs for the PT of LV24).

Well, in this case, to get chain #1, we have to kill second one within 200 seconds. Here's the table. This varies by means of their LV.

#1: 200 seconds
#2: 160 seconds
#3: 120 seconds
#4: 80 seconds
#5+: 40 seconds.

It is possible to get chain #6 but in popular places like Yuhtunga Jungle, it usually takes us 10+ seconds to find next one to pull.

Just for the record, we can play as healer too past 30, just need to bring along a BRD ^^ I would sub my WHM for the curing some status debuffs (silence, paralyze...etc), but the BRD had a WHM subbed for that so there was no point for mine

You can chain past 5.
I've chain 7-ed alone, soloing raising Ranger in Korroloka Tunnel. It took my two hour but I did it. If you want to see a picture, look at the attached. I 2 houred to get chain 6, then hit, rapid shotted, and TPed to get Chain 7.

I've also seen chain 12 from SMN two hour on a large group of mobs on this board.

But on Mandragoras, without AOEing from a SMN, I don't think so. Not to mention getting 11 mandy pulls in that period of time sounds rough.

wrong.

I wish people that couldn't buy a clue with a quarter would stop posting false information.

Back to the topic. I doubt you could pull off chain 11 in a single 6 person pt. Finding the monsters is hard enough, let along keeping them slept next to your PT for the next pull. I'd imagine if u had 5 RNGs you the rdm and a powerlevler i still doubt you'd find enough mands in that overcrowded jungle to find enough to chain 10.

Noooo guys, what the original poster meant to say is that he is able to kill 11 monsters in a roll with or without long resting time, and not that he got 11 chains. I think the poster misunderstood the meaning of the word "chain" in ffxi.

To the poster: Correct me if I am wrong.

Well, I don't really care whether his PT got real 11 chains or not.

However, do respect WHM. I'm a little upset to hear something like "I made WHM's look useless." Well, he shall soon know how painful it is for just one RDM to do everything (Enfeeble, Haste, Refresh, and Main Healer!?) by himself.

RDM is not born to be a main healer, nor do I want to be. Unless we have LV37+ NIN tank, we cannot fully concentrate on our primary job.
