Spells For BLM subjob..
Should I bother to waste my money on the "ga" spells? What's so special about them? I know that Drain, Aspir, the elemental enfeebles, Warp, and Escape are ones that I really need, but I'm not so sure about the nukes— I don't think I'd ever use them.

If short on money you can skip the -ga spells and come back to get them later. -ga spells are area-effect spells allowing you to nuke more than one creature at a time. They tend to do more damage than the regular versions of the spells, but also cost more MP.

Make sure to get every single target nuke along the way such as Aero, Fire, Blizzard, etc. You will be using these spells as a Redmage also.

Thanks. I have Stone, Water, and Aero, already, and I was fairly certain that the "-ga" spells were just area effects. That's a lot less Gil I'm going to have to spend..

The -ga spells are not a total waste of gils. It is a luxruy that you could skip if tight on money, but they are quiet nice once you have them.

They are area effect, but the also do higher (about 4x) damage when used on single target. If you are certain there are no other enemies near by, it's nice to let off a -ga MB.

These spells are also good for farming. I always loved gathering a huge horde of crawlers, and take all of them out in a few casts of -ga spells. It's not just efficient, it's also fun.

Then again, I am seaking mostly from a BLM point of view. I only keep my RDM at 1/2 my BLM's level as an alternative sub other than WHM. So take this with a grain of salt.

Firaga and Icega are the 2 I'll try to get ^^ they are great for MB. The rest can be left alone imo. maybe get waterga too.

imo, get all and it's not expensive if you compare the damage of higher cost spells to a -ga spell. A -ga spell will do slightly more or less dmg than your previous spell (i.e. when you acquire waterga at lvl 38, it will deal the same dmg as stone II). Personally, if it's a totally safe area, I use them. They look SO much better than the single ones(with an exception of the way higher level spells )

It's good for training yourself w/ way lower lvl mobs and casting it to kill them for drops, but most of the time I just do this to show off I usually just use my thief when it comes to drops.

I know that Drain, Aspir, and Warp are quest items, but I've lost plenty of gil on spells for RDM, and soon I'm going to have to buy more armor and a new sword (most likely Degen) for RDM at 20. I don't want to have to spend more money than I need to.

If anyone knows offhand, how expensive are Beastman Blood and Slime Oil? Also, are either of them EX?

Another question regarding the quests...

Drain
"The Rumor"
From Novalmauge in Bostaunieux Oubliette
Beastman Blood needed from Thread Leech.

Warp
"Mean Machine"
From Unlucky Rat in the Metalworks.
Slime Oil needed from monsters of the slime family.

Aspir
"Making the Grade"
From Fuepepe in Windurst Waters.
Test Answers (which I'll just buy from the AH..)

Do any of these require a certain level of fame, and how much? Also, how can I get my fame higher easily if they do need more fame than I have?

Thank you!

sandroian fame can be raised quickly/easily 2 ways, there is a quest in northS that involves batwings, for every 2 batwings u get 200 gil back, a similar quest in southS a person wants 3 rabbit hides for 120 gil, i had enough bastok fame after doing a few minor quests, but i'm from bastok, dunno about windhurst fame, as i hate windhurst, buti belive there is quest where u turn in bastore sardines. i belive, (not sure b/c i didn't have a problem with it) that if your not from sandoria u have to accept the emissary mission to get into the chataeu inorder to talk to nova.

beastman blood cost me 2k, used about 3 stacks of batwings to raise fame, not much of a loss in that $ wise. the slime oil was a few hundred.

also as a not u may want (If u hav't already) done the friars rope quest in the church you'll need 2 lumps of beeswax, (fire crystal + 3 beehive chips +distilled water, 0 skill)

Elemental -ga spells (I don't see what the hell Sleepga is for, if you have 4 monters on you and you SLeepga and then maybe only 1 falls asleep and the 3 are still chasing you..aren't you screwed? O.o) are mainly used for farming and magic bursting when there are no monsters around. I've seen Firga MB gone wrong before from a BLM. The MB did a crap load of damage, but also aggroed a few goblins that we didn't see...as for farming. You just run around with monsters that link with eachother, cast a -ga spell and there ya go =D

Beastman Blood is not a furnishing. It's an alchemical reagent sold under "Beast-Made" items. Leeches drop it in Pashhow. Both beastman's blood and slime oil sell on the AH for around 500-700 gil on Midgardsormr. Neither is rare or EX.

In fact, you can buy the test answers for the Aspir quest too, though those will run you 3k or so on Midgardsormr. Your price will vary depending on server, naturally.

Easy way to raise fame in San d'Oria and Bastok at the same time:

Buy 259849085908 Latheine cabbages or millioncorn from regional vendors or the San d'Orian grocery(or buy Boyahda Moss from AH or harvest from goobbues in Pashhow).

Take veggies to Selbina

Give them all to the old schmuck standing outside the weaver's guild that wants food for his sheep.

Buy cabbages in multiples of 5 or corn in multiples of 3. You'll lose a small amount of money doing this, but you'll get fame galore in multiple cities. Of course, if you farm your own Boyahda Moss, you won't lose money at all.

Don't forget to purchase the elemental debuffs aswell. Especially Frost. Burn, shock, choke, drown, rasp are also pretty good.
