| Senior Member Brass Ribbon of Service | Best Convert strategy...
I was just curious of the best way to maximize the effect of convert. It can only be used every 10 mins, and it's dangerous if not used correctly, so I wanted to hear from people with experience what ~they~ do when using convert. I'm thinking a good strategy for a lvl 41 Taru would be to let MP get down to maybe 60-70, use blink or stoneskin -->Convert-->Cure 3-->Regen-->Refresh-->Cure 2 Would that work? Hopefully you wouldn't draw too much aggro, if only using Cure 3 once, but would your HP come back fast enough to keep you alive? I threw in Blink/Stoneskin for that reason, so if the mob did hit you, hopefully it will not damage you. If you drew aggro, the blink/SS should be enough to hold up until the tank regains the aggro... Any suggestions on a better strategy? Thanks.

Normally I convert after battle. when there's only 1-2 more minutes till convert, i'll try keep my MP around 100 and sit down if need to. Then once the battle is over, I convert cure4 regen and sit. Don't convert between battle except it's an emergancy. Before convert, keep stoneskin and blink up and only cure3 yourself don't cure4. normally if there's a whm they will regen 2 for you too so you can leave regen alone. don't put refresh as part of your your convert. You have to keep yourself refreshed. time it seperately.

When your MP drops to about 50-60, do a refresh, which costs 40 MP, and then a regen. After both, eat an apple pie if your food effect wore off, do a convert, then a cure 4 followed by a cure 3, then rest. But in your case you can do two cure 3 instead of a cure 4 and 3. -Etrnal |

^ After battle ends. There is a completely different procedure when converting during battle.

My battle routine is 1) STEP BACK to where it SHOULD be safe, if possible. 2) Recast Stoneskin if I have already taken a hit or if it has been taken off 3) make sure I'm healed to my max MP (have 320hp or higher if I have a total MP). If I'm not then a cure2 ussually does the trick. 4) Convert 5) 1 second after I hit that magical convert button I hit myself with a cure2, then a cure3, then another cure2. 6) Do what is needed to be done, by this time the whitemage is probably working on fumes and I tell them to rest and finish healing myself after making sure other people are still standing. 7) Return to normal rdm duties when the whitemage has some mp back (enfeebles).

What not to do: After a battle, Converted and died instantly from a area damage caused by a neighboring PT. Always look and move to a safe spot before converting. In an emergency where PT member's death is imminent, I use 2hr, convert, Cure self, escape or cure PT members.

I don't really use it in combat either except in dire emergencies where it looks like we might not make it. Normally I just Stoneskin, Convert, Cure III, then Regen out of combat. Usually I can go through 3 battles on my current MP with Refresh going... then convert, usually thats about the time its available again. Whether my hit points are full or not by the end of combat doesn't bother me, I can always cure myself later. I generally consider my MP better spent on teh party than myself. |

With WHM sub I have the luxury or Divine Seal, which is on the same timer, how convenient. I only use it after battle, then drop Refresh on myself and hit Convert, hopefully bringing me as close to 0 Mp as possible. Immediately after that I do Divine Seal and Cure III (Cure IV in 3 levels!). It's quite an efficient use of my MP, which is important as an Elvaan. -Venk

| Junior Member | My convert use
I convert when my mp get's low. That's my strategy. If I'm in a battle, I ref, regen then convert and c3 only. I don't need more life then that to have an aoe buffer, with fresh stoneskin up. Don't forget to switch in mp gear. Don't forget to stoneskin, if you can't stoneskin, don't convert in battle. it'll most likely by murphy's law kill you. out of battle, I just type |'vert| then convert and c4 myself, then ref around as needed and /heal. If my timer is coming up, or refreshed, I'll throw an extra nuke here, or an extra haste there. A heal mebbe, or some gravy frost or such.

It's also safe to convert in the beginning of the battle. What I noticed is that as long as you don't cast anything to anyone that connects to the enemy (i.e. healing/buffing the tanker/dds who attacked the enemy already, and healing/buffing the mages who already debuffed the enemy or healed/buffed the tank/dds that are attacking the enemy) any cures or buffs to yourself will not cause aggro at all. Helps a lot when it's a fast pull and you only have like 5-10 seconds for yourself.

If we aren't fighting anything that has massive AOE, I convert in battle without any blinks or stoneskin. I usually don't have enough hate built up to even have the mob turn after throwing a Cure IV on me.

I convert is battle only when its nessasary which has happened quite a few times in the past. I usually just run far away enough for me not to draw any aggro and I Divine Seal + convert + cure IV which is all macroed at once. I run back and continue the emergency healing. I have also converted as the battle started which I did not get any aggro as mentioned above. Divine seal + Cure IV fills my 900hp back pretty much all the way. And I can immediately run back into battle. I usually dont stoneskin due to the emergency reason to convert. (partying going downhill and nobody having any MP to cure so its usually a mad rush to get more MP)
