My typical rules of thumb: - Any job combination, no matter how bizarre or silly (NIN/DRG, BRD/SMN, whatever) can be played to level 20 with no problems. - around level 30 is when weak-but-barely-playable combinations start showing their faults. RDM/MNK, for instance. - around evel 45 is when those weak-but-barely-playable combinations pretty much stop being playable. Granted, given enough time and patience, anything can be played to any level... but unless you are a glutton for punishment, there are only a handful of playable subs for each job. In general, mage subs go best with mage primary, and melee subs go best with melee primaries. If I had to rate them as combinations: RDM/BLM: A RDM/WHM: A- RDM/SMN: B RDM/PLD: C RDM/BRD: C RDM/THF: C- RDM/NIN: D RDM/DRK: D RDM/MNK: D RDM/SAM: D RDM/WAR: D RDM/RNG: E RDM/DRG: E RDM/BST: E My scale: A: Great subjob with good synergy B: Decent subjob with some nice perks C: Somewhat useful subjob, but much wasted potential D: Slightly useful subjob E: Effectively no benefit other than a few stat points Icemage |
