Velocity Shot - HOw will it be?
Ranger
New ability - Velocity Shot - ranged attacks will be faster and more powerful and mele will be less powerful.

Ok, discuss time. Think it's going to be like Hasso, a 3 min timer ability; or dare I dread it will be another lolmerit ability? Honestly the way it's described, it sounds like it's going to be RNG's Hasso. I just hope the +Haste% is worthwhile and the +ratk dmg will be huge.

Re: Velocity Shot - HOw will it be?
I'd be excited if it was a sort of Hasso, hopefully at 35, as there's no JA at that level currently. I'd really like to see something like this, although at the moment, I feel pretty powerful on RNG. Hopefully I don't get weaker as I level.

Thanks to Roguewolf for the sig. :D

Re: Velocity Shot - HOw will it be?
They said that velocity shot will be stronger the further you are from the mob. The further you are from it, your shot has a more time for it to reach its max velocity thus inflicting more damage.

Re: Velocity Shot - HOw will it be?
I just hope it's not usable by /RNG. COR has enough going for it as is IMO, let RNG have it's thunder back.

Now assuming SE doesn't go too far with this 2 handed re-adjustment it looks like all will be well among DDs. Seriously, they better not re-fuck DRG...

Here here Mal, I too am hoping it's at least Lv 38, COR can do some DD I just don't want this to be /RNG and have COR beat us in dmg since RNG are king/queen of ranged attack damage.

I'm a bit ignorant about COR's and RNG's output, but was there ever a time when a good COR's output came close to a good RNG's? I find that rather doubtful. Whatever this new ability can do for COR if its Lv.37-, it can do at least as much for RNG, I'm sure, so there's little chance of parity between the two jobs in terms of DD'ing over this single change.

Re: Velocity Shot - HOw will it be?
Because of the new bullets that came out, it allowed COR's dmg to become near par that of RNGs. If Velocity Shot is pre 37 then that would theortically make COR's damage equal that of RNGs during Slugshot.

While Cors will never eclipse Rng in dmg they still put down some pretty respectable numbers. Considering that they buff, sleep, dispel and debuff too.

A rng would drop say 900-1000dmg slugshots on colibri, I would follow up with a 600-700dmg slugshot of my own.

Also, steel bullets have a dmg of 70 while silver bullets have a dmg of 81. Guns cor can use are nearly as strong as rng guns so with these bullets they definitely can pour on the dmg if needed.

I also hope that its an rng only skill. I'm a bit biased but still. heh.

Re: Velocity Shot - HOw will it be?
SE already gave COR Rapid Shot, they don't need to get anything else especially not this ability.

All RNG has going for it is damage and few utility bolts. COR can now do similar damage (especially when /RNG) and give major party buffs. Let RNG have it's fun.

Re: Velocity Shot - HOw will it be?
Last night on COR, with Chaos rolls on 4 and 11 and Minuet x2, I was doing 1100-1200 slugs on Hilltrolls as COR/RNG. Best average Detonators were 850 to 945. I used Sole Sushi +1.

My best on Hilltrolls as RNG/WAR is 1560 using Flashy shot with Minuet x2, Warcry, Berzerk and Meat. I should mention this is also with Xbow and Acid Bolts applied. So for all that on the same mobs, RNG is just 300 ahead, but overall, I'd say RNG stayed ahead of COR.

I should note a couple other things:

(1) As RNG, my Slugwinder damage is far more consistant and
(2) My COR TPs with Joyeuse more than with ammo at 70+

So RNG still is putting up the best WS numbers between the two, but very few RNGs can say the have access to a multi-hit weapon. Most melee CORs will strive to get a Joyeuse. If either have a multi-hit weapon, its a heavenly experince of TP and ammo savings, but its usually not the case for RNG.

This considered, Velocity Shot would likely be detrimental to how melee COR is played 70+, but only serves to RNG's advantage. It would be nice for CORs pre-70, however, as we're every bit as stiffed on Haste options for ranged weapons as RNGs are. But if Dancer's Roll turns out the be a Haste, that would be enough for me to call it even, particularly since BRD is getting single-target conversion for their buffs (Read: BRDs no longer can feed RNGs excuses for not buffing them with Minuet).

I'm betting Velocity Shot will be exclusive to RNG, but I'm hoping its a "state" i can turn on/off like Seigan and Hasso since Multi-hit weapons are still in my dreams for RNG.

It also increases melee delay (slower)

I'm just hoping this isn't another lolsnapshot

kidding.
I want to shoot someone everytime i get stuck with a march. I've got a firestaff and haste doesnt do crap for ranged shots. Its even worse in dynamis when arguable noone should be getting march. The one hit everyone gets before a mob dies doesn't need march.

Anyway, I also got the feeling it would be like hasso, though, hopefully more noticeable. I'd be happy with a 5-10% haste and 10-20 dmg per shot. But I'm sure thats asking too much. Do feel bad that SAM's get some nice power only to quickly lose it. Atleast I might be considered useful again.
Also got the feeling that it might be coming tuesday, seeing how descriptive they were and how totally vague they were on other jobs.

Re: Velocity Shot - HOw will it be?
It comes today :D And the ability is exclusive to RNG

From the description, its sounds more like a Berzerk for RNGs, boosting one thing while penalizing another. So more JAs to stack together.

Wonder that the recast and cooldown is on it. It makes RNG/WAR sound even sweeter.

I CANT WAIT!
It's been a while since rng has gotten anything interesting.

If it is like a Hasso type buff, I wonder even how much more /war will be a hate happy sub.
