For example the Puk I have to stand were the mob ends up about 3/4 of the way away from the center to get 110 unbuffed shots (150+ buffed), yet the Colibri I place them about 1/2 way from center or a little in either direction to get better damage with them.
Kind of seems that were you should stand and all is guided by something indicative about the mob itself. Reason I base on that is because of certain Empty type mobs were success on hitting for me has been many times when they are at a distance you'd would expect it to auto-miss like it does with other mobs. | | ::Quote Selected:: | | 08-22-2006, 11:41 AM | #3 (permalink) | | Senior Member Brain of Knowledge Join Date: Aug 2003 Posts: 1,286 Style: Light - Version 6 Thanks: 0 Thanked 2x in 2 Posts Gil: 12,030 Bank: 0 Total Gil: 12,030 Donate | Re: Ranged Sweet Spot Chart Most charts or rather calculators use windower distance, so it's not really useful to you.
It has to be like this because of multiple variables in range weapons and monster types.
Also best distance isn't always max damage. | | ::Quote Selected:: | | 08-22-2006, 11:45 AM | #4 (permalink) | | Junior Member Join Date: Jul 2006 Posts: 413 Style: Dark - Version 5 Thanks: 0 Thanked 1 Time in 1 Post Gil: 2,410 Bank: 0 Total Gil: 2,410 Donate | Re: Ranged Sweet Spot Chart I use windower distance as well, just need to know the numbers really | | ::Quote Selected:: | | 08-22-2006, 05:59 PM | #5 (permalink) | | From Beneath You, It Devours Super Moderator Join Date: Apr 2004 Location: Texas Posts: 3,439 Style: Dark - Version 5 My Mood: Thanks: 43 Thanked 150x in 105 Posts Gil: 18,361 Bank: 56,315 Total Gil: 74,676 Donate | Re: Ranged Sweet Spot Chart I know bow is w/in .5 of 10.0 either way.
Gun is immediately outside of melee range, as soon as it gives you the "you are too far away" message, thats sweet spot. Xbow is a little farther than that.
I think they're all listed on KI's ranger forum, on like the second page maybe. Just have to do a little looking first.
I used the distance plugin for about a week while doing random things just to try and get to where I could eyeball distance on on bow. I don't like using it anymore. I RNG 75 I WAR 37 I NIN 38 I SAM 50 I Woodworking 92+2

Just play around with it, move to and fro to find a good distance.
on small mobs, like goblins or crabs, etc. using windower, xbow i find to be at 7.5 +/- .4 or so. Gun is around 5.5 +/- .4
but, like last night when fighting dhamels in bibiki bay, these mobs are so much bigger. you can be a distance of 7 away from it and still melee the thing. so for these im usually standing around 11ish when using xbow.
it all varies, but finding the distance isnt hard, once you get the feel for it, you'll know how to gauge yourself. Omni@Remora: NIN75 RNG75 MNK75 COR75 BST63 BRD45
