Lack of racc
Lack of dual wield
Lack of power
Lack of shadows
Dead ranger.
You get 1 phantom roll...below lvl 37 max...might as well sub brd at that rate. you get 1 roll and at i believe less potency.
your job as rng is to deal dmg. thats it. rng are not built for providing any support.
so as a dd, you want to do whatever it takes to make yourself most effective at hurting the enemy.
the 2 most commonly used subs are:
/war for down right power and big numbers.
/nin for a bit more accuracy and better survivability.
with /cor you can use the hunters roll or thfs roll or chaos roll to boost your output but, all those rolls are covered and bettered by using the above said subjobs.
other rolls might be useful for other jobs perhaps, but you are thus limiting your output. let a cor be a cor. cor can be semi-rng too. if thats what you are looking for, play cor. cor is what a lot of people call, the offensive brd. try it out, they might be what you want.
good luck! Omni@Remora: NIN75 RNG75 MNK75 COR75 BST63 BRD45

Why do I get the feeling this will be another job I am kicked out of parties for not having /nin?
"Ok we have our party all rea- Wait, why is our RNG subbing WAR? And Elvaan?"
My NIN is lvl 5, I do not feel the need to go "POOF". lv. 30 latents, barrage, sharpshot and slugshot at its normal lvl. of 55 is imo, far better than having dual knives and utsusemi.
you really shouldnt be hitting that hard anyways since no access to silver bullets. your dmg will be dulled down a bit but still pretty damn good for a support job. Omni@Remora: NIN75 RNG75 MNK75 COR75 BST63 BRD45

OT, but yes, its best if you can both subjobs available. I xp with /WAR and intend on doing HNM's with that setup too. You just have to learn how to control hate better. However, there are some quests and such where its nice to have /NIN available. It may also be needed later if you take part in any ammo or tp burn parties.
On-topic, as was said, best not to sub COR for anything I can currently think of, but vice versa, RNG is a great sub for COR. Not only do you get some great JA's and a couple of the accuracy traits, you also get to use the lvl 30 belt with +3 marksmenship skill latent. Always a nice thing to have. I RNG 75 I WAR 37 I NIN 38 I SAM 50 I Woodworking 92+2

Pros - Every minute you get a small boost to 1 stat.
Cons - Hmmm... lets see.
No shadows to fall back on if you pull hate or pull a fast moving mob
No 2nd weapon slot for increased r.acc/r.atk
No stat boosts from sub
No Berserk for major damage increases
There's really no real reason to sub COR on your RNG. The reverse is quite good though. COR/RNG is quite nice I hear. | | ::Quote Selected:: | | 09-18-2006, 01:59 PM | #9 (permalink) | The BBQ Kitten Revolution FFXIWiki Team Join Date: May 2006 Location: Windurst Posts: 4,570 Style: Light - Version 6 My Mood: Thanks: 158 Thanked 1,264x in 704 Posts Gil: 35,625 Bank: 11 Total Gil: 35,635 Donate | Re: RNG / COR? is it any good? /COR has its uses at times at end-game, but the only job that seems to seriously be able to get away with using /COR in XP parties is well-geared WHM/COR in certain parties (i.e. any time when you don't really need any other support job abilities and just want an XP boost simply because "you can").

I can see giving up Ballad since Ballad II would be more than sufficient in that situation. Chaos and Hunter's roll are rather weak comparted to Minuet and Madrigal, Healer's Roll could be a little helpful or even Beast Roll for SMN pet... but I just get the feeling it was for Corsair's Roll. If it was a merit PT, I guess thats OK, but if not, another song would have been better. | | ::Quote Selected:: | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | All times are GMT -8.
