Are RNG/War's good for Promyvion? - Final Fantasy XI :: Dreams in Vana'diel :: Community

I know RNG/NIN is requested a lot but what about RNG/WAR? will people take them readily as well? at least more than the other jobs that seem to never get picked or do well

My accuracy is never good enough in PMs even with 2 hawkers + Sushi already. Especially against the bosses. I wouldn't want to try /war and hold only 1 knife. Utsusemi is also a bit plus in this case. Rangers out damage war/nin so much that we can easily be targetted. Without utsusemi I know the mages would have lots of problem keeping up.

I think the more *popular* choices when going PMs are
War/nin
Ranger/nin
whm/blm
blm/whm
smn/whm

any of the above shouldn't have problem.
Other jobs actually are possible too. I've done PM with nin and pld tank and they do fine. I haven't been to PM with other DD but rangers tho so I really don't know in that area.

Rng/war is a death trap. Prov bossess can kill any non shadowed person pretty fast.

I disagree, my friend did Dem and Mea twice (went a second time 2 days later to help me get my Light of Mea) as a PLD/WAR and did just fine. He only needed Invincible once out of the 3 runs when the WHM DS+Curaga'ed the melees after the Mea bosses Carousel move. (Medium-High AoE Damage, and Hate Reset too I believe.) The NM went after the WHM who ran back to the mage camp and it Carouseled the mages, knocking me out instantly and putting the WHM and other BLM into red, so the WHM Benediction'ed and my PLD friend used Invincible to override Bene's hate spike. We won and I was raised mid battle and got my Light of Mea (which was the last one I needed).

On mea, I especially encourage the use of a PLD over WAR/NIN due to AoE Hate Reset. WAR has provoke or swing his axe to get hate back. PLD has Shield Bash, Sentinel, swing his sword, cure's, and provoke. (Not to mention Invincible which allows the WHM to Benediction when needed without the monster attaking him). PLD should take an Au Lait and Steamed Crab.

If you're not stacked on Vit and Defense, than Utsusemi is a must.
