[guns...] WS damage is limited by something
I am not a RNG, but I am a bit of a "statitician" (of sorts). Also, being a RDM, I know all about swapping gear to best suit the situation.

[from various posts, on different forums]

Ranged Weapon Skills:

Archery has 2 modifiers. AGI and STR.
Marksmanship has 1. AGI.

think of it this way. To fire a gun or crossbow, all you really need the AGI, to keep it steady while the weapon is out. (take the ELV stance, for instance. Just one arm, stuck straight out.)

To fire off a Bow, you need both AGI to keep the bow steady, and STR, to fully draw the bow, for max velocity.

Quote:
Archery WS 100% 200% 300% #Hits Secondary Attribute TP Adjustment
Flaming Arrow 1.00 1.00 1.00 1x STR_16%, AGI_25%
Piercing Arrow 1.00 1x STR_16%, AGI_25% Def Down
Dulling Arrow 1.00 1x STR_16%, AGI_25% Crit Rate
Sidewinder 5.00 1x STR_16%, AGI_25% Accuracy
Blast Arrow 2.00 1x STR_16%, AGI_25% Accuracy
Arching Arrow 3.50 1x STR_16%, AGI_25% Crit Rate
Empyrial Arrow 2.50 2.75 3.00 1x STR_16%, AGI_25%

Marksmanship WS 100% 200% 300% #Hits Secondary Attribute TP Adjustment
Hot Shot 1.00 1.00 1.00 1x AGI_30%
Split Shot 1.00 1x AGI_30% Def Down
Sniper Shot 1.00 1x AGI_30% Crit Rate
Slug Shot 5.00 1x AGI_30% Accuracy
Blast Shot 2.00 1x AGI_30% Accuracy
Heavy Shot 3.50 1x AGI_30% Crit Rate
Detonator 2.50 2.75 3.00 1x AGI_30%

Perhaps, if you pump RATK for normal shots, then swap out to max AGI for the WS, you can increase dmg. I'm sure RATK has some mods for the WS, but if not, feel free to test out "RATK+0" for a few shots, to see if there is a difference.

20 millions worth it? Thats the latest price on the AH in Fairy. 5 million, no problem, 10 million will do, 15 million pushing it but I'll work for it...20 million? And it will no doubt have gone up from there by the time I make it to 55 and farm up the money for it. The real problem is finding a place where I can farm more money in less time. At lvl 40 I can make roughly 100k in a night. Thats roughly 200 days of straight farming....OVER A YEAR!!! I thought I lvl'd slow before, I'd be at 55 until the end of time. I'm sure new things will open up down the road, but enough to really make the 8 months of farming worth it? I guess my real question at this point is: At what point do you just say its not worth it and your time could be better spent doing other things?

OT: Good to hear from you again every now and again Rugal
Macht, love to talk to you sometime on Fairy.

Also OT: Can someone look a cpl threads down and help with some more conclusive advice on food?

take a group of loyal friends and go camp it yourself...yes its tiring but if its 20 million on your server, i say just skip it.....just use war+1 or sargna till 71...20 million is not worth it.

i have e bow and the damage per shot is a bit higher then war+1 but the WS is noticable but if i had to pay 20 million for it, i rather put the 20 million into a craft that can make me money later on.

Your post was good information, and I'm not entirely sure what to think about the data you presented. From the websites I've seen and the jacking around I did (using WS's on easy enemies while helping friends), I always thought that WS's did not have the soft cap that normal melee and ranged hits did. I'll have to look at the formula again later, but I agree it's confusing since some things take both ranged+ammo data into account, while some formulae only take the former or latter.

However, I'm confused by your caveat. If we're talking about a RNG who is not trying to draw hate, the entire discussion is nigh moot. Who cares whether gun or e-bow or even o-bow do the most damage, since it's possible to gain aggro with even o-bow? It just means the e-bow and hellfire+1 users are holding back more, meaning they're all doing the same damage. I was thinking more of the scenario where the RNG is going all out to try to finish chain or save someone without utsu (or out of shadows) by getting aggro themselves. Or in another scenario, starting a skillchain which ends with a trick attack. These are the situations where high damage output comes into play, and if the attacks are successful the RNG will always get aggro.

I know this. I'm the one who posted all that information in the first place Thanks for the input though.

I think people get confused too easily by the post I made. If you read it carefully, it does NOT say Archery WS only has AGI and STR as modifiers, and Markmanship only has AGI. All physical weapon skills are modified by attack and STR in the same way normal hits are. The %'s listed with every WS is the "secondary attribute bonus" that comes into play in another part of the equation. There's not much point to switch out RATK for AGI since both help increase the WS output... maybe the AGI will outweigh the RATK, but maybe not.

To clarify, what I meant is that nearly all of the "fancy" RNG equipment out there makes NO difference. All they are there for is bragging rights. I'm talking about Genin earring, Suppanomimi, Noct+1, etc. I used these and never really saw an increase in parses. Peacock charm helped marginally, but not as much as one would think. Strider boots are helpful in a different way, and no helpful at all if you aren't puller. E-bow, however, is in a whole other class. The increase in damage output at the levels you can use it is immediately noticeable even without parses. That's why I said it is remotely worth the price.

If you don't want to pay 20mil for it, that would probably be wise :p But if you had the money, I'd pick E-bow over any other expensive RNG gear.

I believe in karma. Anyone I treat badly probably deserved it.

I probably wont, unless like I said I stumble across a way to make serious bank. (and it should go w/o saying but sometimes it doesnt so...IGE is not even an option)

Not sure if I could find this elsewhere and since I'm posting:
Anyone know any info on the nm that drops it? Like, who, what, when and where? How rare a drop is it, how long a pop is it, and what kind and how many of what lvl friends would I need for it? I've still got to hit 55 before I wanna try and think about it, so I gots some time to convince friends to help.
Uhthankyou

Stronger barrage (bow users can't use PPA for barrage), comparable WS, faster TP gain (thanks to instant abilities like barrage and WS's that still give back TP based on weapon delay). [/b]
I've read throughout this forum and much has proven the notion that :

gun>bow post 70

however some still say:

shegato+1 / gendawa+1 > hellfire +1

i personally use gun after all i've read..

noob question: PPA is?

patriarch protector's arrow, its a CP item that is EX and costs like 3200 cp points I think (that may be my cost though since I'm bastokan) Has a ton of +ranged accuracy and some +ranged attack too. Since you will probably one have one, I'm sure its a "no duh" thing, but you use Unlimited Shot with it.

de nada. its windy and i'm assuming you're windurstian since you're taru. Pretty sure its a rank 7 item (whatever the cost is for that) Theres also something like it for the xbow. Golden Musketeer's bolt. Same rank CP item, has More +ranged attack than PPA but less +ranged accuracy (both items still rock though.)

i read a lil about gendawa +1, it being a higher delay then most bow can return 100tp on barrage so u can prob do

sidewinder>barrage>sidewinder as well..
