People who leech your widescan.
Lately I've been having a problem while hunting Air Elemental's in Tahrongi Canyon. People who find out I am a RNG and start following me around to take whatever I am tracking. I lose several elementals to people like this every run. Since I'm sub lvl 45 RNG I don't have an effective claiming tool either.

Anyone have a tip how to avoid these leeches? Having lvl 50+ rdm(among others) cast dia on your tracked Elementals isnt very fun...-.-

And yeah I know they are leeches because they see me turn around and start running after me.

You can either screw with them (fun, but not time effective) or wait until you've got shadowbind up before you start chasing something. Other than that, not much you can do.

Just a thought......

You could get your RNG up to 50 and sub 25 THF and use flee.

I had that problem farming tabar beaks for awhile. When people see you have a bow, they know you're a RNG :X My suggestion to you is get a faster ranged weapon for pulling stuff. Hell, I use my crossbow to pull mobs in exp parties if someone else is going to pull it. Another mob for more chaining is much better than having TP if you ask me. One bow I can suggest (that you're probably not high enough to get/use yet :\) is the Loxley bow. My god that bow is ridiculously fast. Levelling off of the spawn with my LS we got Sagittarius X-XIII to spawn, killed him, but no drop unfortunately. It's a rare/ex bow, so you HAVE to kill the NM. It fires at the speed a dagger attacks, just to give you some idea. :D

This seems like a lot of trouble, but perhaps you could set up an equipment macro that can equip/uneuip your items. Unequip when you're tracking and equip when you get ready to kill.

Post 50 this is not a problem at all. Wide Scan + Flee + Shadowbind is too good.

Pre 40, you are going to get dicked. So sorry.

Between 40 and 50 is where it's a little interesting. Shadowbind will easily beat anything they try, but if your Shadowbind is down, your next best option is to play it like a THF and run up and Steal. Without Flee, you're at a disadvantage, but it's the best you've got.

I generally find that losing a few leech attempts to Shadowbind trains people not to attempt to follow me.

I follow rangers around whenever I'm hunting something that spawns in a wide area (tabar beaks, for example). Sure, I could use ranger sub, but then I'd lose treasure hunter.

No use getting annoyed at other people taking advantage of your advantage. Just mislead them, or wait to farm in areas like that until you have shadowbind/flee. Tigers in batallia, for example - there's enough of those around that following someone around doesn't make much sense.

Aka. A moron who can't learn spawn patterns. I'm glad your not on my server then again I have Shadowbind. I'd love to see your Chi blast claim faster than it.

actually, chi blast IS faster than shadowbind

Beacause ten billion years' time is
so fragile, so ephemeral...
it arouses such bittersweet,
almost heartbreaking fondness.

Actually, all offensive JAs are the same speed, instant.

If any of them were less than instant, you would eventually see someone start Provoke/Shadowbind/Jump/Chi Blast/etc. animation, but end up losing a claim (in exactly the same way that you sometimes see someone start up Stun or Flash cast animation, but lose a claim). This does not happen.
