Ok you guys Ballista is really starting to spark my intrests. I get bored with fighting mobs and questing all day long. PvP is something that I am really looking foward to as a way to sharpen my skills and make some money along with increasing my reputation. I want to know from you seasoned vets, if tarus really have a good chance at staying alive in ballista, how fights play out, what kind of hit rate and dmg rangers do, and what type of tactics you have used in ballista so far? How are teams configured for ballista and what, if there is any, is the top working formula for a group make up in ballista. I haven't seen much talk about ballista or any PvP in my time in game or on the forums so I thought it would be a good way to get a leg up on the competition.

Well, there is no real team Configuration in Balista as it is pretty much who wants in, the main Strategy is to find the Rook, guard the Rook. in that way Black Mages, Rangers and Dark Knight/Ninjas are the best at Balista with Rng and Blms taking the sniping approach, I guess if you had the Ammo I say bring a Gun |

You don't get Sleeping Bullets So go with bow, and bring a stack or 2 of Sleeping Arrows.

My Mood: | This has been nagging me for a while...just how often does the added effect of sleeping arrows go off? |

My Mood: | That's pretty scary...I'll be sure to grab some when I try Ballista! Another thing...I imagine it works fine on an EM, but what about ITs? Skill affects how often it goes off, right? |

My Mood: | Ugh...I guess I'll have to get a crossbow, and I may as well level marksmanship while I'm at it. Damned sleep bolts have a lower level requirement than sleep arrows -.- I imagine it's a real life saver though in pretty much any situation you have something on you and you need to escape. Thanks for the feedback *is a curious Warrior* |

I've only played in 40 cap as RNG. Tarus have no chance to survive without blink, barrage makes them instadead. With blink, though, you're invincible. No one wants to go after a RNG/NIN because you've got that nice blink and a shit load of damage in that bow. What I mostly do is use barrage and sharpshot, then camo myself (when near a bunch of enemies), run towards a taru WHM or SMN or BLM or what not and one hit them every five minutes. You take out your bow while invis'd and stay invis'd until the arrow fires from your bow, so camo makes a fun companion. Another thing to do is shadowbind people who try to run away since they can't resist it, and it usually binds them long enough to get that last arrow off. Also keeps pesky WAR/NINs off of you while you take out the taru fluff. :D Shadowbind goes through blink, btw. And sleep arrows are GOD. You can kill anything once you get past the blink (if they have it) buy just shooting them continuously with sleep arrows. It's really lame and I don't use it often, but it helps against BRDs who can sleep you in less than a second >.<

I typically play the lv60 cap, just because getting raped by lv75 jp's w/ 30 mil in equipment on doesn't make things fun lol. If the other team is smart they will use sleep/sleepga A LOT. If you really want to get serious bring some Poison potions so you don't get screwed from that. Stay away from RDM's who havn't been attacked by someone else right then, because they will simply have buffs up, while you work through them, they will Gravity, Slow, Paralyze, Bind, Sleep you etc. Don't ever use your Barrage right away on a person because chances are they blink/utsusemi/stoneskin casted on them. The best way to remove these things is just run up w/ dual wield and hack away at them until it's clear to use the real guns. Ballista is really quite fun if played properly, the thing that I find people don't focus on enough is the whole scoring aspect of Ballista, often one team will just walk around looking for PvP and not score any goals. |

ive done several ballistas 30, 40, and 1 50. im taru myself buts its fun to shadow bind and eagle eye a taru mage. constantly quarrying is what you have to do refresh i think resets your 2 hour. you can barrage a taru as well. i have taken on elvann sam 1 on 1 they dont stand a chance. my best day in ballista was mithra rng on other team she had been wearing out my teammates. just so happens we ran into each other i was more or less alone atm, she had a mage with her. but i knew she mustve told him to leave me alone so we could go one on one. we were facing each other in a shootout. using bows only. it got down to last shot. i had a sliver of hp left she had a little more. whoever got their last shot off first and connected would win. i could see her motions almost in time with mine. i think she tried to shoot to quick and didnt get it, because i did my timing was perfect and my arrow was on target. she had her bow drawn and then just wilted and fell to the ground. i had beat her 1 on 1. i didnt get far that pesky mage was on me and no time to blink. 1 nuke and i was toast.
