Rng/blm???

So I really like to deal damage. My main job is BLM and I know that a good RNG can surpass a BLM in damage. So I think to myself, how about a RNG/BLM? Good idea or not? So far it's serving me well even though I don't have that much mp and my RNG is only at lvl 21 so BLM spells are only up to lvl 10 yet.

O yes, I don't really care one way or the other about being original or being a mainstream char, but I like to have fun in FFXI... any damage dealer job suggestions are greatly appreciated.

no, it may be ok at your lvl but once you get to 25-30 you'r ranger will be doing way less daamage then it could, not to mention that black mage of the lowest (?) agility out of all the jobs so that lowers your accuracy greatly.

I think you should go ranger/summoner. At least then, you would get blinkga and have standing mp regen. And have summons which at least look cool even if they don't do anything else. Heck, you even get a subjob belt and earrings to support it at 30 now!









Seriously though, unless you're just goofing around, don't do it. You won't be able to land spells for much damage (arrows will do better), even though warp will be handy.

Subs other than the standard war or ninja, and samurai later on are seriously wasting your capabilities. (Don't forget thf for farming too, that one is awesome.)

Try and finding a PT 50+ with Rng/Blm. Subbing Blm your Rng will suck.

Yeah, that's what I feared. So any suggestions about a good subjob for my BLM? I really like playing as a mage, so I'm willing to give my RNG a rest for the moment and maybe get back to it later.

You also have to realize that your nuking capability will be half your level... At even 30, if a 15 BLM tries to nuke something, more than likely the spell will be almost if not fully resisted meaning no damage from the /BLM.
