I myself am carefully considering between Drk and Rng, who deals the most damage I already know, is not the end all as each job offers something unique.
I know what its like to be a Dark Knight, since there are enough posts on that in the Drk forum, but I don't hear Rangers describing what its like to do the job they do.
I know Dark Knights are awesomely evil warriors who cut faces off any moron who messes with them, uses badass attacks like Soul Eater, has awesome AF armour, and a pretty badass repetiore of black magic to back them up.
What about Ranger now? I don't want to be Ranger just for the damage, although its nice, but shouldn't be the sole reason to be the job you want to be.
I'm asking because I want to weigh the pros and cons between both jobs, including party invites and such, but anything else as well.
Look forward to hearing some details from you Rangers out there | | ::Quote Selected:: | | 06-08-2004, 11:36 AM | #2 (permalink) | | Member Join Date: Dec 2003 Posts: 864 Style: Light - Version 6 Thanks: 0 Thanked 0x in 0 Posts Gil: 1,245 Bank: 0 Total Gil: 1,245 Donate | Not sure what you're asking here....
Rangers do massive amounts of damage. Consequently, they spend a lot of gil on bullets and arrows (and weapons) in order to do that damage. They get barrage and some scavenging skills, and some very nice active skills (unlimited shot, Sharpshoot, etc).
The AF armor IMO suits the ranger pretty well.... looks like pretty light armor and includes the famous "weed hat". They get to wear some of the "lighter" heavy-armor types, and have no big melee potential except to build TP with daggers and axes. (yes, axes).
Most rangers melee close to the monster and shoot once or twice inbetween swings for maximum TP gain. Constant battling for hate with the tank and staying just below the hate line so we won't get 1-hitted by sickle slash/etc.
Did I mention rangers have the defense/hp of little girls? | | ::Quote Selected:: | | 06-08-2004, 11:57 AM | #3 (permalink) | | Junior Member Join Date: Jun 2004 Posts: 20 Style: Dark - Version 5 Thanks: 0 Thanked 0x in 0 Posts Gil: 108 Bank: 0 Total Gil: 108 Donate | I personally hate DRK and a few of my friends are high level darks and regret being a dark knight. Darks are great at high levels; it's usually the other way around.
Anywho, about "what's it like" to be a Ranger: You won't settle for half assed groups, since you're shooting money; you're the damage dealing job; you're the NM hunter with THF sub and flee; you have the pimpest hat next to Red Mage, and you can "Wow!" newbies with a 2000+ sidewinders on mobs - if that's your thing. | | ::Quote Selected:: | | 06-08-2004, 02:17 PM | #5 (permalink) | | Junior Member Join Date: Jun 2004 Posts: 24 Style: Light - Version 6 Thanks: 0 Thanked 0x in 0 Posts Gil: 224 Bank: 0 Total Gil: 224 Donate | Yes... yes that does sound rather good.
I suppose I was asking how much you Rangers enjoy your job. Seems like you really do.
And that weed hat/beret .... lol, that's the first thing I noticed when I saw Ranger .. .actually it was the first thing that made me check it out (aside from being able to use guns, now thats badass) | | ::Quote Selected:: | | 06-08-2004, 02:26 PM | #6 (permalink) | | Junior Member Join Date: Mar 2004 Posts: 39 Style: Dark - Version 5 Thanks: 0 Thanked 0x in 0 Posts Gil: 507 Bank: 0 Total Gil: 507 Donate | gun pic can someone please post a pic of a human ranger with a gun,

What is a Ranger like... well going along with the template you used to describe DRK...
Ranger is a backlines fighter, dealing great damage through ranged attacks, while they do great damage and have cool abilities such as barrage, sidewinder etc. they depend on the frontliners to protect them as they wear the thinest of armor so that they can remain agile and mobile.
Rangers hit often and hit hard, they are not a solo class and depend on others to keep them alive. | | ::Quote Selected:: | | 06-08-2004, 05:26 PM | #8 (permalink) | | Member Join Date: Dec 2003 Posts: 864 Style: Light - Version 6 Thanks: 0 Thanked 0x in 0 Posts Gil: 1,245 Bank: 0 Total Gil: 1,245 Donate | as for being a ranger, i don't regret it one bit. Thats always good to show off Its gotten me out of Gob territory several times, but its also good for avoiding people you dont want to talk to, like someone you helped that wont leave you alone
+ You can solo just as fast as you can party level, as long as you stick to worms.
