changing to gun

I'm a lvl 50 ranger and i have my archery maxed but I want to switch to guns. Currently though my marksmanship is 0. Is it worth it to raise now, and if so what's a good way to raise it because the mobs I kill dont raise my skill.

Start with a crossbow and cheap bolts, and start on gimpy enemies, and work them until you can't get any more skill. Then move up to the next set of stronger guys. Rinse and repeat until the skill is useful. (This will take a while, it took me my first 10 levels to get my crossbow caught up to my bow skill as a ranger.)
I would also get the fastest crossbow you can to make this process less painful.

maybe try to join "skillup party's" usually consist of high lvl chars attempting to raise they're lower weaponskills in area's where they usually can't solo (or helping friends w/ limit quests/coffers etc)

If your skill is 0 you want to start with some weaker mobs to get it up a bit before you move on to harder ones. The skill won't raise much unless you can hit, and having a skill at 0 against IT mobs won't help in hitting much.

And Bastok needs to get back in first place so I can get my own gun....

I was just doing this last night..

I bought Power Crossbow and like 5-7 stacks of bolts I cant remember and ran around outside of Crawlers nest killing bats... bats like most flying monsters are easy for rangers to hit and dont hit tht hard, or you can shadowbind and barrage the crawlers and just unload till they die... they dont hurt that bad.

Few hours later I have 69 marksmanship skill..

Skillup parties are rare -- I had a comment Marksmanship Skill up Skill up PT only

I would get an invite about every 20 minutes, finnally one said they were skill up so I run on down and they are knight crawlers etc for xp, I was a little annoyed but I let them know I wanted to skill up marksmanship and left... Lots of Na's dont understand what skill up means sadly.

Ill keep at it till my sill is atleast 125-150 no way Iam shooting silver bullets (10k a stack on my server) with low skill.

Just a heads up before you run out and buy a gun... and toss out your bow.

Level 51 is 10k xp 52 is 11k etc

It takes me rounding off about 20 stacks of scorp arrows to level rougly..

On my server Silver Bullets are 10k a stack.. that comes out to be about 200k a level... I dont see how a level 50 can afford that but if you can good luck. If I could Id just be a Ebow.

Well I'd doubt that with the increased delay and damage of the gun that you'd be shooting off the same amount of ammo with it. Odds are you aren't going to go through 20 stacks of bullets for one level.

And now that I think about it, demon arrows are about as expensive as silver bullets, so at that level guns aren't much more expensive.

There anyone with experience on using guns 50-60 or 60+ that can elaborate on the costs and/or ammo usage compared to that of a bow?

Musketeer Gun LV50
Damage: 34 Delay: 582
Ranged Accuracy: 10
+
Silver Bullet LV50
Damage: 81 Delay: 240

Compared too

War Bow +1 LV50
Damage: 66 Delay: 524 Ranged Accuracy: 2
Ranged Attack: 18
+
Scorpion Arrow LV40
Damage: 24 Delay: 90 Ranged Accuracy: 5

The difference is noticeable but not going to bring your stacks down by a great number...

Youd still spend rougly 150k-200k a level compared to a 30-40k a level (Numbers from Midgardsomr)

But if you got that kind of money go for it..

When I reach 50, for one I plan to farm all my own materials and make my own bullets, and second, I will only use it for barrage where delay doesn't matter.
