struggling to level past 51

anyone else having trouble leveling past 50?

I would say it depends on your job, I can not speak for SMN, but as a RDM I had little to no dificulty getting a pty. I would jest get my NPC out and go solo outside Jueno if I got bored waiting on pty

At this point, I would suggest going out and getting whm to 37. I know it is a pain, but you might as well get it out of the way. After that, I would try and find a duo partner or go try and solo in Ifrits. Bombs blowing up is always good xp. SMN can solo almost as effectively as BST. That may be the best way for a while, just LFP while soloing.

Also if you're really just not getting the invites, although most people hate doing it, try building the party yourself.

It seems like, often enough, there's no PT to be built out of the people seeking. It helps to have several jobs you're willing to level, so if one doesn't fit, you can just seek on the other. Still, flagging up is definitely the first step ... it tells people, "look, I can PT with you!" and the person with the job you need might decide to seek or not on the basis of what they can see...

The answer is to blow things up.

Since S-E somehow forgot to give SMN access to TNT sticks, maybe you should find things which blow themselves up. Like bombs. Soloing them is more dangerous than fighting stuff in most pickup groups, but it has two great benefits: 1. zero seek time; 2. you get to keep all the Beastmen and Kindred seals.

(Real Summoners would tell you where to go and such, but I'm not one of them.)

There's also Campaign, if you have the Wings of the Goddess expansion. This is a great, zero danger way of picking up spare XP while you're looking for an XP party.

I think mostly what the OP is running into is that the XP-to-next-level takes a noticeable jump past level 50. This is normal, and will happen on every job.
