Melee Gear, Str vs Acc
i've heard that since sushi has been released, melees can focus mostly on str and just use the sushi for acc. i was wondering what most melee's use not in terms of rings, belt and food.

for my mnk i was thinking of using brown belt and str rings and sushi rather than 2 snipers, brown belt and meat.

just wondering how everyone felt about this.

I think Accuracy > Strength.

Alright, that's not very accurate all-n-all. But seriously, if you've enough strength-you should defintly work on accuracy. It IS important to hit the enemy more than missing (and with the chance of the non-missed attacks perhaps not getting enough damage). However, it's based on the job too.

You could switch out respective gear for meleeing/WS, if you want to cover your bases.

It does depend on the job, however. As a thf, I could care less how hard I can hit the mob while gaining TP, as long as I actually hit. The damage I care about is SATA+WS. I equip acc+ gear for TP, then STR and DEX for skillchaining. As a DRK or MNK, whose damage output is on-going, I could see the strategy in keeping your attack and STR as high as you can.

"Here lies the fearless knight,
Whose valor rose to such a height;
When Death at last had struck him
down,
His was the victory and renown.
He reck'd the world of little prize,
And was the bugbear in men's
eyes;
But had the fortune in his age
To live a fool and die a sage."

As a MNK, you definately want all the STR you can get, and that includes using STR and Attack food.

I think too many of you guys have picked up on Sam and Drk using +str equip during our Sneak attak WS's.

If you want to have higher damage, for the most part, buying +attack equip is going to give you better damage than your average +20 or +30 strength.

If for example, I am to swap out my + attack equipment and use +str equipment (in my case +34 with sole) I will deal less damage on my normal hits than when i wear my attack gear.

Attack is going to be the stat that compares to the monsters defense and determines how much damage you will be doing. Considering you fight IT's most of the time you are not going to be dealing anywhere near your "max" damage, so plus attack is usually the way to go.

Either way, test using both, I am sure there are optimal situations for both types of equip

Spiral Hell 300% + Str and Int modifiers = 2-3k dmg depending on monster lvl/defence (on normal mobs not god/hnm. Most I've seen it do on hnm was around 1.6k)

But for Mnk I do agree.. +Str all the way, and attack food also. You can get by with +accuracy from things like lifebelt or harness or Optical hat etc. But you still wont need to have more accuracy than str slots
