i was set on being a mithra becaus ei know im going to be using mostly melee jobs and probably no magic at all...but from what i read the only melee job mithras are good at is theif becuase of there low vit, is this true? cuz i dont really like theif that much are mithras good at ninja? is it impossible to start as a warrior with them because of low vit so they cant tank in valkurm? cuz i wanted to start as a war

You will get a bunch of repeated replies... I will start off:

Skill > Equip > Race

1st off, Mithra is the 2nd most balanced race, 1st is Hume. If Mithra is only allowed to be thief, then Elvaans mages should be banned.

Mithra is in the middle for most melee job, exceled in RNG and THF, both need DEX and AGI, which mithra is the best. For other jobs, I wouldn't say Mithra is weak, we have the accuracy to make up for the lower STR and such... Though, I would think an Elvaan melee and a Mithra melee with the best gears, the Elvaan would be a little(very tiny bit, not even noticable) better.

I wouldn't worry about the race problem, you just have to learn how to build your job's gears base on what you lack, or what you have in some cases. For example, I would normally have STR or Attack pumped 1st, before pumping accuracy, whereas an Elvaan melee would do the opposite.

Low VIT of Mithra does make us weaker than a Galka, Hume, or Elvaan tank.. but we have the evasion to make up for it; we can buy gears to pump our VIT; and if taru can excel in Paladin tanking, then we can too.

You won't really have to worry about it. If the elvaan has good skill, only his/her friends will know, the majority will only see him/her as any other melee player, so the chance of him/her getting party is the same as you. The chance of people having top of the range gears is rare... so you don't even have to worry about that.

Just go with the race you want, the difference is barely noticable, most people ignore the race differences anyway.

It isn't exaggerated, it is true that Elvaan does have higher STR than other races, but that is if you take the equipments out of the picture.
Look at it this way, if you are an Elvaan, you lack accuracy/dex, so you will buy lots of accuracy/dex+ equips to fix that. On the other hand, a Mithra, who is only 2nd lowest in STR, will spend her time pumping STR, since Mithra already have a good stack of DEX.

It's hard to explain... but equipment will even the stat differences out, as Mithra would buy different equips from an Elvaan, since their pro and con are different. Play the race you want, there is no such thing as best race for <insert job>.

Also, *No offense to elvaans here, I my self used to play elvaan* Its been shown, atleast on my server that elvaans are the exceeding race in terms of population.. So you could say for every mithra there is.. 2 or 3 elvaan.
