Red Mage would probably be able to survive at least long enough for other players to remove the threat or finish casting a Sleep spell, and then run away.

BST may be the most annoying ranged fighters, though, seeing as pets are semi-expendable and don't give up, and can also hit people while running.

Ho-hum.

THF > BLM > NIN > RNG > MNK/PLD/DRG/DRK/SAM > THF

BRD, BST, and RDM are wildcards in a sense. Of course anyone could be wildcards if they play out of the box(suggested)

... that changes fast thanks to +74 and /NIN and such.

In fact the soon you relize the best way to win in Ballista is like how you win in FFXI. In groups.

BRD NIN BLM PLD MNK WHM > RNG RNG RNG RNG RNG RNG

If you can cover your weaknesses and double your strength you can land a lot of gate breaches. Also playing tactics like luring opponents into ambush works grat.

Best Ballista job? Team mate (other)

I've personally never seen a BST use Amigo in a ballista match, unless they're stinking rich I don't see why they would use it in Ballista.
Thats probably the only thing that can contend with a RDM. BRD's work best in groups because alone I kill them REAL quick, all melee's are pretty much useless and BLM if I don't pay attention but no real threat really..

As a 75RDM/37NIN I'm virtually a god...everyone else bows down to my feet in ballista just like the way most HNM's do...

Solo, RDM/NIN 75 must be pretty strong, but Ballista shouldn't be played solo .

Also BST use that because they want to look badass... I don't know how things work on other servers, but if someone pwns the sh*t out of Ballista uncapped with a bunch of HNM LS peeps, people hear about it.
