MATCHING YOUR JOB AND RACE (for the early levels...)

I was just thinking, alot of friends want me to switch from my mithran BLM back to my Mithran ranger because mithra were made to be rangers, but even though i make a fair amount of gil in the game, i hate wasting it so fast and not seeing the level gain i see with blm (witch isnt a cheap job by any means)

The point of this thread was to figure out witch jobs do you think go best witch witch race.

BASIC JOBS:

Warrior- Mithra- best dex and agi for more parrys, shield blocks, critical hits, and normal hits. decent hp and lower vit doesnt hurt em too much.

Monk- Mithra- best dex and agi for most accuracy, decent strength stat.

Wht mage- Mithra decent max MP, ok mind, but great agi for dodging attacks when you cure too much

BLM- mithra-decent MP and INT, and that great dex for farming with daggers (cyclone anyone) good agi for when your nuke hits a lil too hard

Thf- Mithra-best dex in the game, thfs need dex, nuff said

red mage-mithra-decent mp, dex for when you meelee, agi for when you solo, and enough int and mnd to do well.

ADVANCE JOBS:

Bard-Mithra-lower chr but who cares songs are songs, that great dex and agi are allt hat matters

beast mater-mithra-best dex for when your pet needs a lil help attacking, great agi for if your pet turns on you.

summoner-mithra- we may not have the best mp, but who wants to be a lil midget walking around with huge avys, u need a mithra so your avatars will respect you.

dark knight- mithra- best dex for landing those long delay hits, more MP then the onther races who accell in the dex department as well.

paladin-mithra-ok hp and vit, solid mp, great all the way around with nice agi for parrys and blocks

ranger-mithra-agi=ranged accuracy=enuff said

ninja-mithra-best agi needed for evasion, enuff said

samurai-mithra- samurai have the worst natural agi, so they need to be mithras to make up for that

dragoon- elvaan- mithra only acell at good jobs, not gimped jobs, elvaan do well with the gimped jobs.

Your gross oversimplification and, in some cases flat out misguidance, sadden me as a reader.

Yes, Mithras have the best AGI and DEX--sorry, they aren't good at everything because of that. They have the lowest (or tied for lowest) CHR, VIT and MND. They make >passable< PLDs, BRDs, etc...but, given proper gear and skill, any race can be passable at any job.

Warrior -- I agree about the AGI and DEX, however, Warrior they have the lowest VIT and second lowest STR--equally (in some situations more) important as AGI and DEX.

Monk -- DEX has relatively (not none, but relatively) little impact on accuracy, it has far more impact on Crit rate. MNK is a STR and MND job more than anything else, Mithras suck at those more than any race other than Taru. No, mithras do not have decent STR.

WHM -- Decent MP, Ok. Ok MND? Wrong...Not that it matters much, WHM is mostly an MP job, not a stats one. And WHM Eva is so low, that race agility attributes wont save you from enough attacks to be worthwhile.

BLM -- BLM and the Taru were designed for each other, Mithras (and humes) are a distant but plausable second.

THF -- Thinking like that leads to gimp gear meaning the Elvaan will be more useful.

RDM -- Ehh...maybe, RDM is doable by anything, but you are giving DEX and AGI too much credit.

BRD -- Not all songs are songs. BRDs wouldnt go out of their way for >+70 CHR late/end game if CHR didn't matter. It does...deal with it. DEX and AGI mean just about nothing to a BRD.

BST -- And shit CHR to ensure it does turn on you!~

SMN -- ..............

DRK -- Again, DEX has minimal affect on accuracy, a far more notable affect on crits. But relying on criticals to up damage is stupid, get more STR and be Elvaan.

PLD -- Worst VIT. Cant even use the taru claim of "I have teh 1337 MPs to hold teh hates."

RNG -- Yea, so Mithras are good RNGs--there is enough AGI and RAcc gear that the little AGI diff is virtually insignificant compared to what they get added.

NIN -- Ninja isnt simply evade everything. Sorry.

SAM -- But AGI doesnt do a damn thing for SAMs, why compensate (unless you sub RNG, but...well..acc gear, kthx)?

DRG -- Might have been funny if the rest of the post was well constructed

Mithra easily make good thieves, rangers, and red mages. The only reason they make good red mages is because they look sexy in AF and all they have to do is whore Refresh and Convert.

They can do other jobs with passable grades, but why settle for second best? Come on.

Thing is what the thread starter posted is very much like what many with little knowledge of the game will state. So it really holds little humor value. It's as terrible as my step fathers who he pissed off everyone he ever came across with that humor. The only indication of the post being a joke is the very last sentance and even it is quite vaigue in indicating that.

Even though knowing it's a joke it does not help this thread at all. You make a statement like this and some one or a group of people will take it as fact, then you are just breeding a new wave of people with even more ignorance to the game.

I, like several others, didn't see this as a joke but as a very...misguided player stating their opinion on the pwnageness of the Mithra. To me, it sounded almost exactly like the Brady Games strat guide, only with far worse spelling, grammar and general knowledge of very basic vocabulary in which mithra was good at every job because their DEX landed hits and their AGI evaded them, when, in reality, its not quite that simple.

Perhaps I was a tad caustic in my original reply, but I was, and remain, quite unimpressed with the sheer volume of horribly naive posts stated as pure fact. No, Im sorry, fanboydom doesn't carry you far in the harsh reality of the fact that everything has its pro's and con's.

Now, if the post had been entitled something about "Mithran performance in various jobs" I might have been a tad more accepting...but if, and only if, it noted the con's as well as the pro's. There are jobs that Mithra's excell at (RNG and THF) jobs that they are least suited for (PLD and BRD) and everything in between. Yes, there are pro's for playing a mithra of any job, and con's as well.

Jokes are well and good, but behind every joke is a kernal of truth--the truth in this one was a fundamentally misguided notion that Mithras excell at everything.
