Where are all the pretty Ghouls?

Trying to get access to the Al Zhabi ferry and I've got 5/6 subjob items - but I can't find any Ghouls, I've spent night after night wandering the Dunes and ffffffttttttp no Ghouls - Any Ideas? alternate Ghoulocations? If only the wiki completed one of those beautiful "distribution" maps for Valkurm.....

I second what Armando said, but to help you a little further, stay on pretty much the first floor. no need to go further than that. Go all the way straight in there are like 3-4 ghouls. When you first come in, head left and follow that as well... more ghouls.

Gusgen does have plenty of them if you've got some help to take them down. Their drop rate is a lot lower than the ones in Valkurm... but you can kill more than 1-2 per hour there, with far less down time.

You DO need higher level help to get a skull there though.

If you weren't so far in, I'd have suggested going to Davoi and getting a coffer key or testimony there instead for the quest. It's FAR faster, esp. since there's almost always someone around hunting for testimonies or keys there who won't need the extras.

If you have a high lvl friend, he can farm a Testimony and that works as well, you can use any Testimony for any job. I used a BLM testimony to get access to TaAU ferry. Definitely Gusgen Mines will be your best bet for magiked skull though. Armando x4

None at all for Gusgen the gauls are lvl 25ish, may help if you go /thf with a +15 theif

I remember when I did the quest and help others do the quest, the Skeleton Warriors also dropped the skull. Now it seems like they dont anymore. Three days ago i help some people get there skull but I just ran around getting Ghouls because after 3 spawns of trying to get Skeleton Warriors drop the item, I looked it up online and it said they dont drop them. I clearly remember farming them for the skull. Did anyone else remember farming them for the skull?

Skeleton Warriors have never, ever dropped Magicked Skulls. Ever. Your memory is failing you.

Usually when I go to Gusgen for a skull it takes me less than 15 mobs to get the drop. I did it for my mule and it was easy as shit, took less than three hours to get all six items for the AU trip. Hell it was harder getting to Jeuno than getting the SJ items.

Satimasu was kind enough to help out when I first needed my skull for the subjob quest. I saw the screenshot of him mass farming them and I still laugh at it now.

The second time I needed it for my WG item I'm fairly sure I duo farmed it. Went something like 1/20 but Ghouls are pretty squishy by Lv40 anyway so they will go down fast.

Both times were in Gusgen mines just to add. It should be easy enough to get someone to help you with it if for some reason you can't solo a Ghoul by the time you need to go to WG.
