Ok guys here's my question. I know BRD can't use the sapara of trials, so they can not unlock Savage Blade themselves. BUT if I were to level, say RDM to 71 and unlock Savage Blade and used Merrits/items to get my sword skill high enough on BRD could I use Savage Blade? All the sites I've visited doesn't label the actual WS as SP or EX so it seems that anyone that has it can use it. But I wanted to ask.

War, Rdm, Pld, Drk, Blu and Cor only. All that meriting would do would allow you to use this ws at a lower lv than 71 on the other jobs that can use it. It is also not the final ws, Knights of Round is.

I knew someone would point out that it's not the final weapon skill. I called it that for lack of better name, and for most jobs, it *is* the final weapon skill.

RDM can't unlock Savage Blade until lvl73. Nit picking, but no one else had yet picked that nit.

Technically, you can unlock Savage Blade as a RDM 71, as long as your natural combat skill in Sword is 240 or more. Granted, RDM 71's Sword skill caps at 232, but this doesn't have to mean your "natural" skill can't be more than that. (And no, I'm not talking about merits.)

In a case of Savage Blade, PLD's Sword skill exceeds 240 at lvl 68, and likewise that of BLU at lvl 70. Even if your PLD/BLU's lvl are below 71, as long as you have 240 or more with either of them, then your "natural" skill requirement for the quest is met. As we know, another requirement is to talk to the NPC as a job that can learn such a WS, which are WAR, RDM, PLD, DRK, BLU, and COR in this example of Savage. Meaning, whatever the job you talk to the NPC as, that specific job's "actual" skill at that time doesn't have to be 240 or more; those requirements are 2 separete things.

Trial weapons have job restrictions, but they are all lvl 71 weapons. So if your PLD's lvl is 68 and that of RDM is 71, and that you have 240 or more in Sword skill as a PLD, you can start the quest by talking to the NPC as a RDM, equip it as a RDM 71, use it to get rid of the latents, return it to the NPC, kill the NM, and finally learn Savage Blade.


Like you said, nit picking. Not a big problem to be concerned much about.
