I am trying to do the quest for warp but rat ?? does not say anything. do i have to be a certain amount of fame to get this quest

You need level 2 fame to activate Unlikely Rat's quest for the Warp scroll. Takes about 10-15 unique quests to bump your fame high enough, as I recall.

Asking for fame not rank. You get fame by the more quests you do. Also to determine fame it's by what a specific NPC will state about knowing your name, the higher your fame the more that NPC will recognize your name and whatnot.

Here's a simple solution. Do a few quests for gil, buy a ton of boyahda moss on the auction house, then turn them into the sheep guy in Selbina and voila! Hero fame and bastok.

buy several ears of million corn or cabbages and trade them to the sheep farmer in selbina to raise your fame for the warp quest
