For each of the colours you have to collect to get the cutscenes, it tells you to visit different places. Do you have to go to all the places for each colour or just one of them?
For e.g. - (quoting one of the colours in the llist) # Yellow - Sand - Valkrum, Tahrongi, Konschtat
Do I have to get the yellow cutscene from all those 3 places, or do you need only visit for e.g. it might be just Valkrum Dunes or Konschtat Highlands?
Do you get the idea? | | ::Quote Selected:: | | 04-19-2006, 02:23 PM | #2 (permalink) | | anti-spam Super Moderator Join Date: Jan 2004 Posts: 5,535 Style: Dark - Version 5 My Mood: Thanks: 22 Thanked 64x in 59 Posts Gil: 45,272 Bank: 0 Total Gil: 45,272 Donate | Re: SMN Quest Confusion. I got the idea in the end on what to do and have now completed 5 of the different weather elements and collected the cutscenes.
I'm still having a problem collecting the red heat one and it is taking ages to come round. /sigh.
Do you know of any website links or can tell me the positions of the NPCs which tell me the weather for each of those places. That would be helpul I think. | | ::Quote Selected:: | | 04-20-2006, 03:02 PM | #4 (permalink) | | Junior Member Administrator Join Date: Dec 2003 Posts: 4,929 Style: Light - Version 6 Thanks: 235 Thanked 682x in 347 Posts Gil: 21,530 Bank: 77,920 Total Gil: 99,450 Donate | Re: SMN Quest Confusion. I should mention that those guys aren't 100% accurate (realistic representation of real weathermen?)
If you have access to Altepa Desert, fire weather shows up there more frequently than in Valkurm, but it's still pretty rare. It doesn't help that fire is a daytime only weather effect. I got completely lucky. A friend told me there was fire weather in Valkurm and I immediately warped to my hp by the outpost NPC and popped to Valkurm. Fire weather faded before the cutscene was over, but I still got it. - Last edited by Taskmage : 04-20-2006 at 03:02 PM. Can you get it from Ifrits Cauldron? | | ::Quote Selected:: | | 04-20-2006, 03:30 PM | #7 (permalink) | | Junior Member Administrator Join Date: Dec 2003 Posts: 4,929 Style: Light - Version 6 Thanks: 235 Thanked 682x in 347 Posts Gil: 21,530 Bank: 77,920 Total Gil: 99,450 Donate | Re: SMN Quest Confusion. Please Help! Technically, fire weather occurs in Rolanberry, Valkurm, Meriphitaud, Altepa East/West, Yhoator/Yuhtunga Jungle, and Terrigan. Never seen it more than once anywhere except Valkurm and Altepa in three years of playing. - | | ::Quote Selected:: | | 04-20-2006, 05:13 PM | #8 (permalink) | | Digital Wizard Super Moderator Join Date: Aug 2003 Location: Florida, USA Posts: 6,018 Style: Light - Version 6 My Mood: Thanks: 69 Thanked 465x in 306 Posts Gil: 3,102 Bank: 108,404 Total Gil: 111,506 Donate | Re: SMN Quest Confusion. Please Help! Ifrit's Cauldron can have fire weather, but it's an indoor zone so it doesn't count for the SMN quest.
I've seen fire weather in all of the following places:
Valkurm Dunes (uncommon)
Rolanberry Fields (very rare)
Yuhtunga Jungle (uncommon)
Yhoator Jungle (uncommon)
Meriphataud Mountains (uncommon)
Sauromugue Champaign (uncommon)
Eastern Altepa Desert (somewhat common)
Western Altepa Desert (somewhat common)
Pashhow Marshlands (very rare)
Cape Terrigan (uncommon)
Valley of Sorrows (uncommon)

Please Help! Yeah, I'm finding it a real pain to find this Fire heat weather effect too. It's Really annoying!
Yesterday, I went over to Meri Mountains and sat for a while waiting for it to appear, but it never turned up. The only one I DID see, was the yellow sand weather effect, but I was there in the evening and didn't wait around for too long. (about 2 hrs at the most)
The sand one I had already completed. I have done 5 of them already.
The only ones I need now, are the fire heat one, and the indigo ice weather effects.
~Icemage~ wrote a list and said that Altepa was the most common. (even if in the least bit comon) Is this the best place to go to at anytime to get the red heat effect?
What do you think I should do?
Okay, now for the indigo ice effect.
Is this one easy to get? If I complete this one first, then I can worry about the red heat one afterwards. Is this the best option?
Does anyone know please? Double Post Edited: | Originally Posted by bikkebakke | I just used VD for Fire...

Is that correct? Last edited by Snowball : 04-21-2006 at 08:33 AM. for ice, i'm going to try Beaucedine Glacier | | ::Quote Selected:: | | 04-21-2006, 09:09 AM | #12 (permalink) | | Digital Wizard Super Moderator Join Date: Aug 2003 Location: Florida, USA Posts: 6,018 Style: Light - Version 6 My Mood: Thanks: 69 Thanked 465x in 306 Posts Gil: 3,102 Bank: 108,404 Total Gil: 111,506 Donate | Re: SMN Quest Confusion. Please Help! I'd say Altepa is the best bet to acquire Fire for the quest, yes. Just hang out in Rabao and step outside when the fire element icon appears. It's still not super-common, but it happens much more frequently than any other zone in the game. If getting to Rabao is a problem, travel through Korroloka Tunnel and just hang out at the tunnel entrance and zone into Korroloka and back when you see the fire icon appear.
Violet (ice) is very easy if you can access Xarcabard. Take a step into Uleguerand Range - it's almost always perpetually ice weather there. Failing that, Xarcabard itself is often under ice weather effect, as well as Beaucedine Glacier. Watch yourself in those zones if you're low level - there are aggressives and magic-aggressives everywhere.

Please Help! Here's how I did it: Orange (Clear Skies): Incredibly easy. Got this in South Gustaberg.
The next four were all fairly simple: Violet (Lightningstorm): Konschtat Highlands. Indigo (Rainstorm): La Thiene Plateau. Yellow (Sandstorm): Valkurm Dunes. Green (Windy Weather): Tahrongi Canyon.
The last two, ice and fire, were definitely the hardest: Blue (Cold Weather): Beaucedine Glacier. Difficult only because I was fairly low level at the time and needed an escort. Red (Heatwave): Yuhtunga Jungle. Got lucky. I was partying there when the fire weather came up.

Please Help! Ice is tough. Not because it's uncommon (it's almost always snowing in Beucedine and Xarabard), but because it's a pain to get there if you'v never done it before. You need to go through Ranguemont Pass to get to Beaucedine Glacier, and it's easy to get lost with no map. - | | ::Quote Selected:: | | 04-21-2006, 01:49 PM | #15 (permalink) | | Senior Member Brain of Knowledge Join Date: Nov 2005 Location: Florida Posts: 1,128 Style: Light - Version 6 My Mood: Thanks: 14 Thanked 11x in 11 Posts Gil: 2,439 Bank: 124,098 Total Gil: 126,537 Donate | Re: SMN Quest Confusion.
