Re: Gaming Help Please!
~Taskmage~
I have a question to ask, going back ot the advanced jobs again.
In the link you provided above, for the advanced jobs, (at somepage.com) from what I can see, there are 3 advanced jobs which have either 2 or 3 flag quests.
BRD, and PLD have 3 quests and BST has just 2.
I'm just wondering why they have this number of quests and what they are for.
So far, I have just completed the first BST quest, and I'm wondering whether the 2nd one is compulsory, and if so, when do I have to do it?

Okay, I just have another question to ask.
Since I have a big interest in the advance jobs which have familiars, are there only 2 jobs which have them - i.e. SMN and BST or is there a 3rd too?

For some reason, I have this thing about seeing either Dark Knight or Dragoon casting familiars, and wondereed if either of those jobs was the third.
Is this true, or not?
If there 'IS' a third, then which one is it please?

Re: Gaming Help Please!
Like some other quests, the advanced jobs that have multiple quests are in a series. It's only the last quest that actually gives you access to the job, whereas the others are just needed before you get that quest.

Dragoon is the other job in the game with a pet. When ToAU comes out, puppetmaster will be the 4th, but for now it's just 3.

I'm rather interested in the jobs which can cast those such as Carbuncle and others like it. Can Dragoon cast Carbuncle or is that only limited to SMN?

Is that a book of maps do you think? If so, may I ask where you got it from?

Re: Gaming Help Please!
Dragoons can summon a wyvern like the one in the picture every 20 minutes. Wyverns cost no mana unlike summons, and don't turn on you after a certain amount of time like bst-charmed monsters. Only smn or someone subbing smn can summon Carby. You can only have one pet at a time, even if you're drg/smn or smn/bst.

I think what he was saying about his maps is that he replaced the dat files of the maps he sees when he's playing the game with maps that have all that information.

Re: Gaming Help Please!
Okay, I understand the this bit now.
Dragoon uses a Wyvern and SMN uses carby, Ramuh, Titan, Ifrit, and Garuda e.t.c all at lvl 1. (which surprises me in a nice way) I read it in my FFXl Strategy Guide and it gave me a better understanding of what creature casters can cast.
I also believe that SMN can cast elemental spirits too. They're kinda cool, but I think I would prefer the Carbuncle and others.

I do really love the wyvern, but SMN casts more really cool critters than Dragoon, (actually, being able to cast a really cool dragon sounds really appropriate for the
Dragoon) and is now my favourite advanced job.

I would really like to take on the SMN quest and I think there maybe someone ingame who could help me with it, hopefully.

Re: Gaming Help Please!
Remember you only get Carby at the beginning... you have to earn the other avatars.

Re: Gaming Help Please!
Yes, but also take note that you have to quest for the avatars themselves, either by doing a level 60 capped fight with 5 other people or by leveling summoner to 20 and doing the solo mini-avatar battles. Fenrir requires that you do all of the level 60 fights again after you've earned the summons to collect the avatars' whispers and then do another BCNM with Fenrir. Diabolos requires you to get about halfway through the CoP storyline, I think.

Re: Gaming Help Please!
So you're saying that you have to do quests to get all the other familiars, apart from Carby? I don't mind doing quests, but it sounds like it could take some time. At least it will give me something to do if I ever find a FFXl moment where I'm a little bored.

Just one other question.
What are "Fenrir" and "Diabolos?"

I know that Fenrir is the name of the server of which I am playing on, but in this case, it must mean something else. I wonder if they are familiars for SMN.
I don't have my FFXl giude in front of me right now, so I'm only making a guess on this.

All the other summons (apart from Fenrir and Diabolos) are possible to do in mini-avatar fights when you're SMN is level 20. You're put in a 1 on 1 fight against the avatar, you win, you get the avatar.

Alternativly there are higher level fights available when you have enough fame in the right City / Town for each. You might be able to get some higher level people to do them for you while you tag along.

Fenrir is a longer proccess to get. You need to beat each of the other avatars in their high level fights but not accept a reward (such as the ability to summon the avatar) after the fight. This means if you want to get all the avatars then Fenrir you need to fight them all twice. Once you have all avatars defeated you can then do the Fenrir fight which is even higher level than the other avatar fights.

For Diabolos you need to progress through the CoP missions until you've fought him there. After that you can fight him as an avatar in a similar level fight to the Fenrir battle in order to get him as a summon.
