Friars Rope, Drain, Warp... what rank in fame must you be?
I've given:

1 clump of boyhada moss
3 stacks of million corn
2 stacks of la thiene cabbage

and I'm still rank 1 in Sandoria... is it rank 2 for friars rope? I'm about to go give 4 clumps of boyhada moss... you think I'll get enough rank up or do I need to give like 2 stacks of boyahda moss to go up one rank?

What about the levels for those other quests... I need gil as a level 24 blm / 12 whm to buy more spells.

You mean like, actual "Rank 2"? To get that you just do missions. If not, I'm not too clear on the fame stuff myself. ; ;

http://ffxi.somepage.com/questdb/
shows the fame requirements for each quest

use the cabbages if you're short on gil and need to raise fame quickly; moss is really expensive. and 1 stack of moss should get you into tier 2 fame nicely.

Re: Friars Rope, Drain, Warp... what rank in fame must you be?
I like moss because I can macro trade them
But yea they are the most expensive compare to others.
Warp is Tier 2,
and to get to the drain NPC you have to be able to enter the sandoria castle
which is rank 2 sandorian, rank 3 other nations.

Re: Friars Rope, Drain, Warp... what rank in fame must you be?
The number of quests you need to do to raise your fame in one of the main cities (Bastok, Sandy, Windy, Jeuno) depends on what your race and nationality is.

This is what I've heard:

Quests x 1 : Player of city's breeds, allegiance to that city.
Quests x 1.5: Player not of city's breeds, allegiance to that city.
Quests x 2.5: Player of city's breeds, allegiance to a different city.
Quests x 3: Player not of city's breeds, allegiance to a different city.

For example, if you need to do 20 quests as a Bastokan Hume for fame in Bastok, you will need to do *30* quests as a Bastokan Elvaan for fame in Bastok. I can only confirm the Quests x 1 and Quests x 1.5 part personally. Different quests give different amounts toward your fame level. If you do repeat quests, you will get a higher amount toward fame the 1st time and very minimal amount toward fame the successive times.

Edit: To get Drain, you need to be at least Rank 2 if you're San d'Orian and at least Rank 3 otherwise. Rank is different from Fame. Fame is earned through quests and determines NPC pricing and access to additional quests. Rank is earned through doing Missions for your country. The reason Rank is needed for Drain is because you need access to the Chateau and only authorized persons are allowed! ^_~

2nd Edit: As Icemage reminded me, you can enter the Chateau before officially getting Rank 3.

Actually, you can access Chateau d'Oraguille while still in the process of pursuing rank 3 from any nation; the only gotcha is that if you're Bastokan, and open the Windurst part of the mission 6, you'll have to complete it before triggering the mission in San d'Oria for access to the Chateau, and vice versa for Windurstians in Bastok. San d'Orians can access the Chateau at any time after beginning mission 6.

Thanks for the correction. Even though I (Bastokan) went to Sandy first I had forgotten that you get sent to Halver inside the Chateau!

By that do you mean that you can get rank 2, and do 2-1 and Be able to go inside? I'm from Windurst and I'm a little confused on this subject >.<

That's correct. As a Windurstian, if you start 2-2 (mission 6) and visit the Windurstian Consulate in Northern San d'Oria before the one in Bastok, you'll activate enough of the mission to get access to Chateau d'Oraguille.

You might need a few quests for San D'ora under your belt as well, I haven't tried Drain with my alt, yet...but it took quite a few quests to get it with my main. I know I have done over 40 seperate quests, and I think 10 quests is roughly 1 rank of fame, not really sure if that is right...

Re: Friars Rope, Drain, Warp... what rank in fame must you be?
I just recently completed quests for Drain and Warp :

Drain : even at Windurst Rank 3-1, I could not get into the Chateau until after I got level 4 San D'Oria fame.

Warp : This requires no more than level 2 Bastok fame.

Friar's Rope : Have not tried for this item yet; I think besides the initial Cathedral quests, you need level 3 fame in San D'Oria before you can do the rest (according to the usual sites) Even though I already have one, it is borrowed - I'll go get my own.

I traded 5.5 stacks of corn, 7 stacks cabbage, 1.5 stacks of moss. I also did many of the entry level San D'Oria quests. Hope that helps.

By the way, by all means don't give up : Drain is 200k+, and Warp is 25k+ on my server. All because some people don't want to put the time into it. Check out ffxi.somepage.com for the merchant lists, and try hard not to spend any money at the AH for your spells. Believe me, except for a few rare instances, the merchants are *much* cheaper.

Destined Fellow Eue

Linkshell : Lords of Kirin

Crags : Mea, Dem, Holla, Altep
OP Warp : Zulkheim, Sarutabaruta, Kuzotz, Qufim, Aragoneu, Elshimo Lowlands, Li'Telor

NPC Fellow Nanako : Attacker
