Talking Race Specific Equip Question...

Hey folks,

Can anyone give details of what you need to do once you unlock and accept the Race Specific Equipment Quests in Jueno? I've only gathered that you need to do the Quests based on time of day, I don't know when, where or what. I'm looking for the Mithra gear. Any help would be appreciated. Thnx

You need about 30-40 quests completed to unlock the RSE Quests. Repeats count. You go to the back of the Junk Shop in Lower Jeuno and talk to Bluffnix to recieve the quest. He will tell you which race/sex week it is. The beginning of the week starts with a Fire day and ends with a Darkness, about 7 real hours. Use this guide from Records of Gilgamesh to find the times.

http://www3.big.or.jp/~wanpaku/FFXI/race.html

The times are JST, so take that into consideration. The next scheduled Mithra week is 3/1 06:40-14:21 at Ordelles (2/28 4:40pm-12:21am EST)

There are 3 locations that rotate - Ordelles, Shakrami, and Gusgen. You need to kill the monster that drops a key for those areas, and find the treasure chest to retrieve a magic paper. You then bring that paper to Bluffnix and are able to choose which gear you want. The monsters in there are strong and it's highly recommended you take some people higher than level 40. If you or someone has dezone, dezone2, or teleport, you can cand try to get multiple magic papers from the same place if you can get there fast enough. There was another link that had descriptions on which monsters to kill, when I find it I'll post again. Good luck~ Nya~

Thanks StarvingArtist

If you can let me know the monsters that drop I'll be set! Oh, are the chests randomly placed or do they appear in the same place?

If you didn't receive the quest for Bluffnix, you will get item from Treasure Chest instread... no matter how you open it^^

So, if you want to get race specific item:
1. do quest! (~30 complete quest)
2. receive quest from Bluffnix
3. hunt key (if you aren't thf) (can do anytime, no need to wait for your race time)
4. hunt Treasure Chest
5. open the Chest at proper time please check the time from above URL, you will get blue message item (magical paper)
6. report to Buffnix, get your RSE item^^
7. repeat from step 2-6

Monster that drop keys:
Ordelles - Goliath Beetle
Shakhrami - Caterchipillar
Gusgen - Gallinipper

Chests usually have 5-6 fixed pop spots in each of the dungeons.

Thanks for the monster drop info Bebetaro.

Does anyone know if it matters which chest you open?
and if you can carry more than one Key and piece of paper at the same time?

Trying to see how to cut down on the time required to complete the set of gear.

First off, kinda want to warn you that sometimes it may require many hours before you acquire 1 key... It's a mere chance of luck whether the key drop of not.

To answer your questions,
you can't hold 2 blue paper at the same time, because it is inside the important items menu, so you need to go back to the gob to receive your RSE, or else your 2nd chest will be normal treasure chest instead.
Key is rare ex, therefore you cant trade, and you cant have 2 in your inventory (nor Mogghouse).

But you get a key, open a chest, get a blue paper, then get a key again, that's no problem.

The chest pop in different places in the cave also. When someone opened it, it will pop somewhere again in 5-8mins.

A Thf can use lockpick tools to open a chest and get the magic paper if it is his/her race gear week and has accepted the quest. To solo, you would need to be in the 40s. It is possible to get all the race gear within the week, but you need help from people who have Teleport, DezoneII, and a Thief at least lvl25 or 45 with Treasure Hunter2. If the time is during busy Jpn hours, the best you can hope for is 2 chests because of the competion in there.

For Ordelles:
at lv31, beetles were ’š“x but were still tough. Also, the mushrooms there link too, and bats will aggro.
at lv35, beetles were Šy and only bats were aggro.
so for solo, it's best to reach 35, and stay in the pld quest part2 room rather than going into the deeper area, once 40 tho, it's save to solo in the deeper areas of Ordelles for keys

For Shakhrami:
at lv41 the crawlers were Šy, but the gobus there aggro and link bad, so it may be a bit dangerous solo-ing there unless you stay close to the entrance

Just a side note, i was on pld/thf (elv) if anyone wants to know.

i'd suggest u get higher level first before going to shak coz things could get dangerous in there at low levels especially with the gobus wandering around,

the keys r dropped from caterpillars (spelling) and they are really close to the entrance of shakhrami from buburimu

there r a few spawn locations for chests, i can't remember them all, but here r a few,
1. the first skele hut that u run into when u enter shak, it's where the gobus and caterpillars spawn
2. leech king room (can't miss it when u see like 20 leechers inside), i think 2 chests in this room, 1 near each skele hut
3. near the iron door
4. the lap scorp room, right beside the whole place where u can see tahrongi side of shak
5. there's a chest that spawn in the middle of a path near somewhere

probably some others as well, but i can't really remember them all
