Mermaid Ring from Peddlestox

Go to this thread for reference , but I think this part deserve its own topic.

Anyway, to get the Mermaid Ring you need to trade four RARE/EX Mermaid items to a Goblin NPC name Peddlestox (H-6 in Yutunga Jungle – only appears on Windsday) and he will mark on your map the treasure location for you to go dig up with a Pickaxe.

Well, I got all the items (pain in @$$ to get) and traded to him on Windsday. He marked my map with the treasure location, so I headed there to dig it out. However, when I got there, there was nothing that I can trade the Pickaxe to (are there suppose to be ???).

I thought the problem was because Windsday has been over before I can get to the treasure location, the ??? did not appear. Well, I waited for another Windsday to start and I went to talk to Peddlestox once again. And once more he told me to go dig up the treasure at the same location, but there’s still nothing there to trade the Pickaxe to!

Please, is there anybody here who has done this quest can help me out? Is this a hit or miss deal? Or have I screw up the quest by not digging up the treasure on Windsday when he told me to do so for the first time?

Finding all those Mermaid parts was such a pain and now I might not even reap the reward. I think the people at SE who came up with these kinds of quests are a bunch of sadist.

This may be completely wrong and dumb, but... Did you try using Greens to get your chocobo to dig there? :sweat:

I did that also, but nothing happens. Peddlestox specifically told me not to forget a Pickaxe when I go dig, so I’m thinking there’s suppose to be a ??? or a mining point there for me to trade the Pickaxe to.

In order to dig with a pickaxe you need to walk up to the "mining point," "excavation point" or in this case the "???" and go to the item menu, then select your pickaxe and you will have an option to use it.

...I believe this is what you meant, correct me if I missed something.

you can still get it.

To get the ??? to appear you have to go over it and stand in the area for a short time to see it.

took me a few minutes walking round the exact area trying to find it.
