Best lvl to attempt RSE?

What would be the most efficient lvl to do some of the RSE quests? I see the lowest item is lvl 27 restriction. Can a small group do it if they're 30-35 or something? Just wanted some roundabout guidelines for this.

From my limiteded experience the key droppers for RSE chests are "tough" to level 30 players. I think a full PT of 30~35 could accomplish it, but having a high level player a long would be best in case of links.

I went to shakrami to try one night and even with a lvl 40 BLM and all the rest 30~33 (full group) we got linked by crawlers and gobs so badly that we wiped (except the BLM who warped and disbanded.......grrr). If you do decide to go with just 30~35, be careful and take you time.....I felt very rushed to get the keys and we blundered through agro'n everything that was EP and up. Not the best way to handle things.

I've resigned to only hunting RSE when it happens to be in Ordelles, from what I hear, it's the easiest place to do it.

Thankyou for the reply. I know Shakrami reasonably well, except for the lower lvls. I guess a group of 35ish is probably best. I feel confident though, because I shouldn't have a problem charming a labyrinth scorpion to help us with the quest.

and 30-35 party would definatly be overkill, unless you're doing the gusgen keys/chest. I was able to solo for my keys and chests starting at level 32 in Ordelle (Goliath Beetles) and the Maze (Caterchipillars)

I'd say get a friend to duo with and get the keys faster if you dont have time to wait for everyone in the group to get theirs as well. Sometimes it can take a long time between key drops.

Ordelles is pretty easy, you can take the gobs and golaith beetles with no problem as long as you watch for links. Make sure you have a map and know where the chest spawn points are. after level 33 the seeker bats will not aggro which will make things ALOT faster and easier. It's only a pain to run back and forth in there.

Shakrami is even easier if you enter from the Buburimu entrance. Don't go too deep, bring a map and know the spawn points. Just kill the caterpillars and gobs near the Buburimu entrance. don't go in too far.

Gusgen is HELL. Low key drop rates and Goddam undead. Bring a monk and Pally if possible. Try to get to the room with the worms and the wights and just camp there. There's alot to kill there tht drop keys but it's just a pain. You can also camp the room with the flies and levers if you watch out for the ghouls spawning above.

Thx for the replies. Ironically, I still can't do the damn quest yet because of not enough fame (even though I've been working on this quite a bit).

20-25 repeatables, and about 18-19 unique, in Windurst.

It's in the corner of F-6... you have to go north at G-7 to get to it though, as the bottom of F-6 is blocked by cliffs.

I did mine solo as a 32/16 RDM/WHM. At that level, Goliath Beetles in Ordelles should check as "Decent Challenge" or "Even Match", and the crawlers in Shakhrami are "Even Match" to "Tough". At 36, you shouldn't have much problem in either place, just watch out for linking.

If possible, do it all in Ordelles - it's by far the easiest location of the three. Set your home point in Lower Jeuno, and grab a scroll of Instant Warp. Once you learn the layout of Ordelles, it's really simple. About the only difficulty you'll have solo is moving around to find the chests without Sneak + Invisible.

I'll also have to agree about Gusgen...avoid it like the plague. Way too many linking monsters for my taste with no quick exit in sight. It's certainly doable, just not as easy as the other two places.

Thx for the replies. I am pretty clear on how/when to do this now. Just need to establish more fame.

Just so you know, having high fame in one city but none in the other two wont get you enough fame to get the Jeuno quests. I had about 30 quests done in Bastok, 15 in D'Oria, but I couldnt get the quest until I did some in Windurst as well. I had 61 quests finished (none repeated) when the goblin talked to me. Friend of mine got his fame with 55 quests done split over the 3 cities.

Slowly narrowing this down..

I hate how my friend waltzed in and got the quest activated even though I've done more unique ones than her. But she said she's down some of the repeatables a lot more than me. Me: "I've done the crawler culler about 6-7 times." Her: "6-7? I've done it like .. over 20." Me: >_<

hehe. I know I don't have lvl 6 fame though.. lvl 3-4 I think. Guess it's time to make myself known more.

I can charm labyrinth scorpions easy now anyway. In the main area everything is "too weak" at lvl 38 (except the air elemental and the mobs on the drop down bits), and the scorpion is huuuge. :D

I'm really not so sure about this dual fame thing. My friend has only done the Ninja related quests in Bastok, and say 15 uniques & plenty of repeats in Windurst but he talks to her fine. I am certain she hasn't done anything in sandoria. It's probably just overal combined fame.
