One lucky sob i am, i today found a ghoul on the first night and got the lot for the skull. Then when i tried to help my party members ghouls werent around. I can see that either you can get it easy at selbina, or lose hard and waste alot of time there. Took me 2 or 3 hours. But for them 4-5 hours didnt even get to see a ghoul near the dunes.....:dead:

With regards to the Gusgen Mines, ghouls are far more in abundance than out in Valkurm and usually there are nobody in there during the late evenings ;o Last night was good, you just have to be patient. We got 2 magicked skulls dropped in a row. While you're there, you can take on the Bandersnatch and the Ghouls give a lot of XPs as well. Even if it takes you awhile to get the skulls, you may in the process level at least once. Not a bad trade off. In Valkurm, you still have to deal with the occasional incr gob (if you're lower than level 19) and the crowds there are ridiculous. There could be as many as 40 people in an oasis. That is just bad enough when the ghouls appear randomly as well and multiply that to the number of times a skull actually drops ... just go to Gusgen already ;p

I also got lucky on the skull, dropped 2nd ghoul. Still need the damselfly item, plus I'm stuck at 16 and can't find a pt to save my life for the last 2 levels. Woe is me.

You all have at least one level 15 thief in your parties, right? We fought 8 ghouls and got 7 drops. Took about 3 hours, iirc. Damselfy worm was marginally more difficult for us to get, and the stupid crab apron took forever...

On the bogy subject, when I did the bard quest at lvl 33, one bogy I saw still conned as a decent challenge.

i must be about the only one who did the quest at mhaura... i had the first two items just from normal partying in the area so i didn't feel like going to selbina to start again. since i didn't know any high levels at the time i just typed a sad message in my search box:
i want to finish the subjob quest...won't anyone help me hunt bogies. ; ;
or something like that. took a couple hours of waiting but a high level WHM/BLM (it was great to see a WHM batter the shit out of a monster a party of low levels wouldn't touch) helped me and i got the robe on the second drop.
it's funny that se changed the crab loincloth to crab apron for the english version.

I did my SJ quest in japanese random parties. I got along with them pretty well. I am a whitemage, so I even got tarus dancing for me trying to convince me to join PT ... Now at Jeuno I had to set anon mode so I could have peace to do the darned chocobo sit and wait quest ...

When I did the Selbina SJ quest, I got each item in a diferent day. In 3 days I got the quest done. No big deal.

People on Cactuar server SHOULD not have any problem doing this. Keep in mind that FFXI is a game meant to be played with other people and if you need the item, remember to ask people to not lot in for it so you can get.

(Stay away from parties with @sses and you are ok)

Yeah I was in a 12 person alliance last night and we get about 2-3 robes in like 2 hours. Only when a lvl 61 PLD came did we get anything done, but at that point I was already gone...Needless to say I was very angry when I found that the entire alliance and the PLD were gone when I ran back. If anyone wants to help me get a Bloody Robe i'd be very appreciative Heh. I'm so pathetic...damn Bogys...

Skulls are damn hard to get because even if you manage to find a ghoul which is rare enough even killing tons of gobs to draw em out, you have to kill it(which isnt hard but..)the drop rate is so low that i get invites into parties REALLY FAST because im a thief with Treasure Hunter...If they need a Thief in the party at lvl 16-18 then its obviously hard to gte. From what ive heard/read the Bloody w/e is harder to get but the Skull isnt easy to get even if you go to Gusgen ><. After 6 hours of hunting in Gusgen i saw 1 skull and shit loads of bone chips. I finally found 2 nice Japanese players to help me and since we had me with TH and a Japanese player with TH we found it a lot quicker, 20 mins...There is no way you can say that getting a skull isnt THAT hard....

Bogy's are way easier. I've killed them in a group of 18-19s. Ghouls in the other hand is hard and fear by most people in Shakhrami Maze. They deal 87 dmg to me near kills me in one hit. But I guess they are easier in other places.

drop rates to get skull in my party (5 18/17's alternating) + 3 20's+ friends (thf, whm, war) at gusgen was 5/20-25

wouldn't have been as much of a problem if people didn't keep getting mobbed by 3 skeleton warriors at a time.

gusgen mines is also death without a map if your party breaks up or gets split up while trying to fight mobs at the same time. very dangerous with both bandersnatches and skeletons mobbing/aggroing you so be careful if you go there

and remember that the skeleton warriors won't drop the magic skull :p

Our party got our skulls in Buburimu. It's maybe slightly more dangerous than the dunes, but we had the place all to ourselves so we were pulling 3-4 ghouls per night. I think it took 5 hours or so to get 7 skulls.

I was the luckiest man alive! This guy casted 908 for the skull, but i got 910 and got it. I am now subbing up my jobs and happy

oh and BTW, on the way back to San Doria, i saw this huge ram (like Battling Ram but much stronger) and he killed me with 310 dmg a shot. This was at la theine, and i didnt touch him first! I was ticked but scared too lol
