| Junior Member | PUP is Sick!
So I am a returned veteran to this game. I played years ago. I quit shortly after TOA was released. I remember seeing pups running around and they always sucked in partys. Im not sure if they were buffed sense then or if we just figured out how to properly use them. But I came back to the game about 2 weeks ago and im leveling a mnk now. A LS member suggested if I like monk to try pup. So I was searching around youtube for pups and I find videos of them soloing prime avatar fights |

/MNK is useful at lower levels til PUP's get their own Martial Arts. /MNK can be subed at higher levels, but not the greatest sub. /NIN is for the Utesumi:Itchi, which avoids getting the PUP hit. /RDM , I am not quite sure. |

/WAR for DD /NIN if you need shadows (remember you won't get any benefit from Dual wield). /DNC converts your TP into healing. /WHM is also good for healing.

Sure it wasn't /sch? And I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but a lot of jobs can solo avatars (THFs, DRGs, and PLDs for instance). Hmm. What took this thread 20 days?

With a DRG/WHM or DRG/RDM's endurance I can't imagine them not being able to solo avatars. Astral Flow would normally possess a threat since they need to be at 50% HP to heal themselves efficiently, but because of the charge-up time they could simply Super Jump it. That must be one goddamned long fight though. Takes me 10 minutes on PLD as it is, and I have the advantage of Joyeuse with Enspells, and Atonement for up to 720 irresistible damage.

Endurance only lasts as long as the mp holds out tho which isnt that long, and astral flow is pretty quick if I remember correclty, (it has been a long time since i did those fights) I'd go /blu if anything, my surviability with drg/blu is much better than drg/whm, head butt, cocoon and 5mp power attack which is rapid. I mite try it sometime.

EDIT: Iron Ram Lance would also go a long way towards improving survivability in this fight. Its effects are two-fold, it'll reduce the Avatar's melee hit by 10% and its Added Effect as well.

I dont really touch drg much anymore. If I remember correctly the wyvern jumps after you do so theres a good chance that by the time youve noticed the wyvern will get the full blast of the astral flow and your suvivaibility has just got roasted. Fov is an option, suppose it depends how long it takes you to get to the harder to reach ones like leviathon and ifrit. Like I ssaid I mite give it a go and see what happens, dont want to loose another 75 job again like my sam that I'm too lazy to re level and get a buffer lol while I'm working so hard on BLU. Ty for the advice

There's manuals in Yhoator and Yuhtunga; it really shouldn't take you one hour to reach Leviathan or Ifrit from those locations.

Pends if your stupid, dont have the map for either , dont have the paintbrush, get aggro from casting too close to the bombs that aggro from miles away that you cant even see yet.) can you tell I dont like those places, a quick run if run out for my af is all Ill go there for less i have to. Were so far off the op its not funny. Pup always bugged me, i spent 200k on attachment for my little guy, would he cure me when I was nearly dead with 2 lizzys attacking me nah it casts poison instead, so I ate dirt for the 5th time, not touched pup since. I always used WHM sub personally but I found the job to be a bit too much effort when I tried it, gl with it

| Re: PUP is Sick! It can be as well. Virtually any reason to sub /WHM is also a reason to sub /SCH. The difference is Erase versus Regen II. Of course, /SCH gets some black magic, too. For that matter, PUP is pretty weak in the defensive department, so it can also benefit from /RDM's Stoneskin/Phalanx/Blink combo.

I never got as many parties with PUP as I wanted, soloing petered out pretty quickly, so around 58-59 I just bailed. I went through the whole "seek for 15 hours even though you outdamage everyone else" job with BST already. I don't need to waste another several hundred hours. I'd rather play a job that people want in a party and is polished. PUP isn't either of those, let alone both. I will say though that it is pretty fun in parties, when you can get them.

This is exactly how I feel about pup now. I leveled it up to 50 and went back to my monk. Monk though isnt a desireable class either. I might try NIN or RDM instead. | |
