A question about being a BLU in Salvage

I got into a low man farming pick up group for Salvage and noticed people having the MNK tank/DD in the beginning. After the second fight it, I changed all my set spells to give good traits to help the MNK. I remember setting Acc bonus, evasion bonus, attack bonus, counter, auto regen, and defense bonus. I would have set TP bonus but I didnt get any WS for H-to-H.

We get aggro on our 5th mob and I switch targets to hold the mob. I was able to easily hold the mob until they were able to come to assist. Then the leader had me tank a few mobs when the MNK was resting so we wouldnt lose as much time.

The tanking/crowd control was only done until the NIN unlocked casting spells. I kept these traits until I was able to unlock casting spells.

My question is if I find a Salvage LS would I be expected to do this or would there be so many MNKs this tactic wouldnt be used.

FYI: We were forced to stop after two gear drops because the WHM died because of magic aggro from a bomb without reraise and noone else had raise in the part.

Re: A question about being a BLU in Salvage

Most Salvage groups I've been with use Mnk/Nin x2 to tank the entire time. Nin is kinda useless IMO for Salvage. What is normally done for Mnk tanks is they have Max Counter merits, max or close to max haste build, and use Counterstance. This allows for more of a chance to counter while recasting shadows. Add is Focus, Dodge, Chi Blast (w/ Penance is awesome for bosses), their large amount of HP, more powerful DD applicability, and ultimately their useful 2hour (Hundred Fists vs Explody) and Mnk is by far a better tank for Salvage runs.

This also works for when you have the option in some zones to split the alliance up into 2 cell farming groups. A Mnk and a healer can easily farm cells with little down time. Also, Mnk can still do pretty good damage without even getting a weapon cell, unlike most jobs.

Blu is still very powerful in Salvage. Diamondhide is extremely useful, especially on Mega Bosses (10k needle one especially). Head Butt can be a life saver on many of the NMs (Madames casting Death O.o). If you put merits into Diffusion, it is extremely helpful for giving your tanks buffs (Cocoon, Plasma Charge, etc.) Add in the poison damage from Disseverment (18/tic is very nice), solo SC Light/Dark (if Nyzul weaponskill is unlocked) and Blu is pretty nice in Salvage.
