Hi all, I've been visiting here /anon for a long time. I have found many of you to be quite insightful with varying degrees of useful information and opinions. I have finally created a login as I have questions regarding what one of my friends has found. I have found no other mention of this in forums I check regularly.

Please, respond with thoughts or concerns regarding this insane PL technique. I am quite certain that SE will patch it in the future somehow, but would actions be taken against those who used it? I personally would think not, as no monitary value or items are gained in this fashion (even for mass item drops, people do the same thing when farming; just minus the exp.)

Edit: As the video may not explain, here are the basics:

4-5 Smn 1-2 Leechers, 1 75

75 trains the entire zone back to the PT, Smns 2 hour and kill them all for 40k something exp

Wash, rinse, repeat every 2 hours (or more if you have a successful Cor 2hour reset)

I think the only time this is OK is if your party and your PL are the only people in the zone- if you have any other players in the zone that need anything to do with the mobs I think SE will call it griefing.

In a way it reminds me of Eco Warrior, people would have high levels go through the dungeon ahead of them, kill all aggro mobs and watch over the ally while they kill the NM. Easy in, easy out. I don't know if SE ever did anything about that but Eco isn't really done by too many people.

I don't see them doing anything major over this. They might "adjust" it so that it can't be done but I wouldn't think they'd start banning people.

Yes, its probably an exploit and SE will most likely patch it when they notice it.

I wouldnt do it too much if I were you... SE showed their claws the other day ...

I read about this shortly after Level Sync came out. It's not really an exploit since SMN's have been able to do this well before level sync came out, all it means now is that it's INCREDIBLY easier to pull this off with level sync. You're still restricted to your 2hr limit tho, but these 2hr Burns are a major source of merits. I can't find the post on BG, but a guy posted screenshots of him getting over 40k xp from doing this in a session.

If a besieged is up while your doing this though it's pretty insane. Do the pull -> get Revivitalizer from there and use it -> die and go back to zone and do it again.

I've read posts on BG that say that GMs have said it's perfectly fine within the game mechanics, you can only get in trouble I guess if you are lagging the zone too much for other players and/or taking their mobs, which can be called griefing.

It's pretty cool, it would definitely be griefing if you were taking mobs that someone else wanted though.

But just as a side note, why does every single FFXI video on the internet have to have to crappy, stupid, obnoxious music with it? Is everyone who plays FFXI and posts videos of it a metalhead?

Crazy stuff, though. If I still played, I'd be tempted. Actual parties get oh so very dull. I used to have someone asking me to join a Bomb-raping group at least twice a day there for a few months, and then they all vanished, so that's out, too. Campaign was fun, but slower. Owell.

I am SO tired of that one that goes "let the bodies hit the floor". It seems like half the FFXI videos on Youtube use that one. (and probably more than a few WoW videos too) Thank goodness I can turn my volume off. At least this one had Rammstein.

It has some potential problems with it IMO, but so long as it doesn't become too wide spread I don't think it's an issue.

It's a short, catchy tune with a very easy to utilize hook, the damn thing was near made for stupid AMVs and such

As for the topic at hand, this isn't even close to an exploit. 40k every 2 hours? That's pretty much a good merit pt at a bird camp. That's not even getting near max Exp-per-hour. Unless, as mentioned, you get lucky with a Cor or Besieged. Infact SE stated that one of the reasons Astral Flow was "weak" compared to things like the lvl 70 BPs and Merit BPs was because it can AoE multiple things, and not lose strength or dmg per mob like -ga spells do.

It's not an exploit, it's just another burn PT.
