Edit: As the video may not explain, here are the basics:

4-5 Smn 1-2 Leechers, 1 75

75 trains the entire zone back to the PT, Smns 2 hour and kill them all for 40k something exp

Wash, rinse, repeat every 2 hours (or more if you have a successful Cor 2hour reset)
If you are really worried, just call a GM and explain. If they say it is alright with certain conditions then you are ok. If the GM happened to be wrong with the ruling, you will have the conversation with the GM in the logs which would give some ground to stand on.

Summoner needs a method of gaining exp that doesn't involve the whole MP/WHM main healer crap.

In that manner, I fully approve of this!

thats a problem the players need to adress not SE..... I wont level SMN anymore because I know that way I want to play SMN (as a magic DD) wont happen in PTs.


not SEs fault that everyone wants ANYONE with MP to heal and sub WHM -.-

It's partially SE's fault since the game's mechanics and SMN's design lent itself so much to being a giant MP tank for /WHM sub. Up until the release of SCH the job gained practically 0 benefits from any sub that's not WHM since the summoner can't melee worth for shit, Avatars suck to leave out and there's no way to buff them through gear or subs, and SMN doesn't have any non-summoning magic skills to call upon.

If NIN wasn't meant to tank, all it would've taken was some basic math to figure out "Oh snap, with Ichi AND Ni, it's possible to keep shadows up constantly!" You don't leave that kind of potential in the game and expect players not to take advantage of it when it doesn't break any of the rules.

While your post is awesome and true, I believe that the casting time for Ni spells was much longer before S-E saw some NINs trying to tank with Utsusemi. They saw it as novel, and then decided to lower the casting times on Ni spells.

Call S-E what you want, but "inflexible" is not specifically among their list of traits.

Quick EXP is only an exploit if you duplicate it.
I.E. Killing a certain type of Mob over and over.

That's why most parties like to wait aprox 4-6 minutes between kills.

That, and they made shuriken too god damned expensive to use with any frequency. Doesn't help that Elemental Ninjutsu is also fairly expensive (would it have killed them to have put all ninjutsu with ranks 1-3 of alchemy? Sure as shit would have made a lot more sense. Elemental tools in rank 1, enfeebling tools in rank 2 and evasion tools in rank 3)


This feels like an exploit to me in the form of mob holding.

Very good insight overall. Remembering back, there have been similar styles of parties before ToAU came out; such as the Mnk burn in KRT, which back in the day made made many groups jealous of the 10k+ an hour. And of course, the Blm Mana burn, pre-patch Rng Arrow burn, and I vaguely remember a Whm/Nin Burn setup for KRT as well.

The only difference I see is the utilization of the members 2hour as the primary source of damage. That coupled with the AoE damage and the enmity differential due to the use of "pets". As for the use of 75s outside of party, that has been used for god knows how long (be it outside healing or getting enmity so that the 75 is actually tanking while the party kills.)
